Jovit's Early Life
Jovit Lasin Baldivino was born on October 16, 1993. His parents were Hilario and Cristeta Baldivino. Jovit grew up in a family that faced many challenges in Batangas. He had four brothers and sisters.
To help his family and pay for his schooling, Jovit used to sell siomai (a type of dumpling) at the market after school. This showed how hardworking he was from a young age.
His Journey to Stardom
Before becoming famous, Jovit would often sing at birthday parties. In 2010, he decided to join the first season of Pilipinas Got Talent. He wanted to win the prize money to help his family, who were struggling financially. At that time, he was still a high school student. His parents did not have jobs, and his father was recovering from an illness.
Jovit won the grand final of the show. He impressed everyone with his powerful voice, singing a cover of "Too Much Love Will Kill You" by the band Queen. After his big win, he was recognized as the "Promising Recording/Performer Artist of the Year" in 2011.
Music and TV Appearances
After winning Pilipinas Got Talent, Jovit released his own music albums. Some of his well-known songs include "Pusong Bato" and "Ika'y Mahal Pa Rin". "Ika'y Mahal Pa Rin" was used as a theme song for the ABS-CBN TV series Angelito: Batang Ama. "Pusong Bato" was part of the soundtrack for another ABS-CBN show, Juan dela Cruz. He also sang covers of popular songs like "Faithfully" by Journey and "Always" by Bon Jovi.
Jovit's last time on television was on November 28, 2022. He appeared as a contestant on the show Family Feud on GMA Network.
Jovit's Personal Goals
Jovit Baldivino also had dreams beyond music. He studied criminology at the Batangas State University. He hoped to become a lawyer, just like his godfather.
His Passing
On December 3, 2022, Jovit felt unwell after singing at a Christmas party. He was taken to the Jesus of Nazareth Hospital in Batangas City. He suffered a mild hemorrhagic stroke and later went into a coma. Jovit passed away on December 9, 2022, due to a brain aneurysm. He was 29 years old.
Jovit was laid to rest on December 14 at the Paradise View Memorial Garden in Padre Garcia, Batangas. He was buried next to his younger brother, Justine.
