Juan dela Cruz is an exciting Philippine television drama series. It was directed by Malu Sevilla. The show stars Coco Martin as Juan dela Cruz and Erich Gonzales as Rosario. Juan is a special hero, who is half-tagabantay (a protector) and half-aswang (a mythical creature). He falls in love with Rosario.

The series was filmed and shown in high definition. It first aired on ABS-CBN in the Philippines. People worldwide could watch it on TFC. The first episode was on February 4, 2013. It took the place of another TV show called Princess and I.

The Story of Juan dela Cruz

The story is all about a young man named Juan dela Cruz. Juan grew up as an orphan. A kind Catholic priest, Father Cito, took care of him. Father Cito taught Juan good values and strong faith. Juan was so devoted to Jesus Christ that he called him "bossing," which is a Filipino word for "boss."

After Father Cito passed away, Juan moved to Quiapo, Manila, with Lola Belen. Juan did not know a big secret about himself. He was actually half-aswang! His father was the Haring Aswang (King of the Aswangs). His mother, Amelia, was a human and a Tagabantay (Guardian). The Tagabantay's job is to protect humans from the aswangs. They also use a special weapon called the Bakal na Krus (Iron Cross).

A prophecy said that the "Anak ng Dilim" (Child of Darkness) would lead the aswangs. This child was supposed to take over the human world. But Juan's mother was a Tagabantay, which made Juan special.

As Juan grew up, he joined a group called the Kapatiran (Brotherhood). This group wanted to stop the aswangs. The Kapatiran trained Juan to become the next Tagabantay. Later in the story, magical beings like the engkantos and diwatas also helped Juan. They played a big part in the ongoing fight between the aswangs and humans.
