High School Basketball Days
Julian Washburn went to Duncanville High School. He played different positions like point guard, shooting guard, and small forward. In his final year, he scored about 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and made 3 assists per game. Experts thought he was one of the best small forwards in the country and a top player in Texas.
College Basketball at UTEP
After high school, Julian played college basketball for the University of Texas at El Paso. He played 130 games and spent a lot of time on the court. He scored over 1,500 points during his college career.
Julian was especially good at defense, meaning he was great at stopping the other team from scoring. He could guard players from different positions on the court. Because of his strong defense, he won the Defensive Player of the Year award in his senior year for Conference USA.
Julian Washburn's Professional Career
After college, Julian Washburn started his professional basketball journey. He played for many teams in different leagues around the world.
First Time with Austin Spurs (2015–2016)
Julian was not chosen in the 2015 NBA draft. However, he joined the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Summer League. Later, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs but was waived soon after. He then joined the Austin Spurs in the NBA Development League (now called the NBA G League).
Playing in Germany with Tigers Tübingen (2016–2017)
After playing in the NBA Summer League again, Julian signed with Tigers Tübingen. This team plays in the German Basketball Bundesliga, which is a top basketball league in Germany.
Second Time with Austin Spurs (2017–2018)
Julian returned to the Austin Spurs in November 2017. In April 2018, he helped the Austin Spurs win the NBA G League championship. This was a big achievement for him and his team!
Playing in New Zealand with Canterbury Rams (2018)
After winning the G League championship, Julian signed with the Canterbury Rams. This team plays in the New Zealand NBL, which is New Zealand's top basketball league.
Third Time with Austin Spurs (2018–2019)
Julian came back to the Austin Spurs for a third time. He was part of their training camp roster in October 2018.
Time with Memphis Grizzlies (2019)
In January 2019, Julian signed a special contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. This contract allowed him to play for both the Grizzlies in the NBA and their G League team, the Memphis Hustle. On April 10, he scored a career-high 8 points in an NBA game against the Golden State Warriors.
Playing for Delaware Blue Coats (2019–2020)
Julian later joined the Delaware Blue Coats, another team in the NBA G League. He played well, averaging about 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Playing in Mexico with Dorados de Chihuahua (2020)
In November 2020, Julian signed with the Dorados de Chihuahua. This team plays in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, which is a professional basketball league in Mexico.
Return to Delaware (2021)
Julian re-signed with the Delaware Blue Coats in January 2021. He continued to play strongly, averaging 7.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Playing in the UK with London Lions (2021–2022)
In July 2021, Julian signed with the London Lions. This team plays in the British Basketball League (BBL), the top basketball league in the United Kingdom.
Fourth Time with Austin Spurs (2023–2024)
Julian Washburn joined the Austin Spurs for a fourth time in November 2023. He played for them in the 2023–24 NBA G League season.

About Julian's Family
Julian Washburn is the son of Chris Washburn, who was also an NBA basketball player. His mother was Michelle Williams Washburn. Julian has four brothers. He studied Multidisciplinary Studies in college. One of his brothers, Chris Washburn Jr., also played professional basketball overseas.
