Julie Adenuga is a British broadcaster and radio host. She is also the person who created "Don't Trust The Internet." Julie was one of the main DJs for Beats 1. This is Apple's radio station that plays music all day, every day, as part of Apple Music.
About Julie Adenuga
Julie Adenuga was born in Tottenham, a part of London, England. Her parents are from Nigeria. She has two older brothers, Jme and Skepta. They are both well-known Grime artists and music producers in London. They also helped start a music label called Boy Better Know. Julie also has a younger brother named Jason, who is an animator.
Starting Her Career
Julie Adenuga began her journey in the music world in 2010. She joined a community radio station in London called Rinse FM. There, she hosted the popular drive-time show.
In 2014, Julie created and hosted her own music TV show. It was called "Play It" and was shown on Channel AKA and Dailymotion. This show was a special place for UK rap and grime artists. It also featured singers and poets.
Julie also started a series of interviews on YouTube. She talked with many artists, including the UK grime and rap artist Stormzy. She also hosted "Grime Karaoke" for Noisey, which is an online part of Vice Magazine.
Joining Apple Music
In 2015, Julie Adenuga was announced as a main host for Beats 1 radio. This happened during Apple's WWDC event. Beats 1 is a worldwide radio service from Apple Music.
Julie also wrote and presented a documentary about her brother Skepta. It was called "Greatness Only" and was made for Noisey. Her hard work has been noticed. She was mentioned in Forbes magazine's "30 under 30" list for Europe in 2017. She was also on Debrett's "500 List: Music."
In 2020, Julie Adenuga launched "Don't Trust the Internet" (DTTI). This is a creative media company that makes different shows. One of their popular shows is "Julie's Top 5."
In 2021, Julie started co-hosting "MTV’s Catfish UK: The TV Show." This show is the UK version of the U.S. show. She hosted it alongside Oobah Butler. Julie left the show after one season.
