Exploring Her Artworks
Connecting with Nature Through Art
Julie Brook's art often explores her deep connection with the landscape. She uses different ways to show this, like painting, sculpture, and installation art.
- An Dealbh Mòr (2005–2006) was a special project. Julie worked with Bun Sgoil Shlèite, a school that teaches in Gaelic and English. For a whole year, they drew and painted from the beautiful landscapes of South Skye. This project ended with a very large painting on canvas. The painting was used like a floor map for a performance. This performance showed how the Isle of Skye's land was formed over millions of years. It used movement and music to tell the story. The artwork and performance were shown at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye. They were also presented at the Scottish Parliament.
- Out of the ground, a thread of air (2023) is another one of her artworks. This piece is located in the gardens of Holker Hall in Cumbria, England. It invites people to think about the connection between the earth and the air.
