Justin Staples' Early Life and High School Football
Justin Staples grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. He played high school football at St. Edward High School. During his senior year, he was a star player. He made 92 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players many times. He also had seven sacks, tackling the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
Justin was chosen for the Cleveland Plain Dealer All-State team. This award recognized him as one of the best linebackers in Ohio. He also played in the Big 33 Football Classic. This special game featured top high school seniors from Pennsylvania and Ohio.
College Football Career at Illinois
Justin Staples went on to play for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He was part of their team from 2009 to 2012. In 2008, he was redshirted, meaning he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain experience.

Playing for the Cleveland Browns
Justin Staples joined the Cleveland Browns in April 2013. He signed with them after the 2013 NFL draft. He was first part of their practice squad. This is a group of players who train with the team.
