Early Life and Learning
Justina Blakeney grew up in Berkeley, California. Her family background is very diverse. Her mother's family came from Eastern Europe and were Jewish. Her father had African-American, Native American, Irish, and French roots. Justina believes this mix of cultures and growing up in California helped shape her unique "boho" design style.
She went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 2001, she earned a degree in World Arts and Cultures. During college, she also studied fashion and communication in Italy. After graduating, she moved back to Italy to attend Polimoda, a fashion school.
Creative Career
Justina Blakeney started a design and lifestyle blog called "Jungalow." This name is a fun mix of "jungle" and "bungalow." She used her blog and social media to share her ideas and grow her brand.
Through Jungalow, Justina has created many cool products. She designed shaggy rugs for Loloi and wallpaper for Hygge & West. She also has a special collection called Justina Blakeney Home with Anthropologie. You can find her bedding line at Target and home fabrics at Calico Corners stores. She even has a line at Living Spaces and a collection for Pottery Barn Kids.
Her designs for the fashion company Moda Operandi were even shown in Vogue magazine. These designs included portraits of famous fashion icons like Grace Jones.
