Raimundo Ferreira Ramos Júnior (born March 14, 1970), known as Júnior or Júnior Baiano, is a former Brazilian professional footballer. He played as a strong centre-back (a defensive player) and was famous for his powerful style. He got the nickname "Baiano" because he comes from the state of Bahia in Brazil.

Playing for Clubs

Júnior Baiano started his football journey in the late 1980s. His first big club was Flamengo, where he played in Brazil's top league, the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Over 15 years, Júnior Baiano played for many teams. He even played in Germany for Werder Bremen. He faced a difficult time there, which led to his contract ending. After that, he played in China and for many different clubs across Brazil.

He won several important titles during his career:

Júnior Baiano first retired from playing at the end of 2005. However, in 2006, he returned to play for América (RJ) to help them avoid being moved down to a lower league. Later, he joined Brasiliense in 2007. In 2009, after a short time with Volta Redonda, he played for Miami FC in the United States.

Playing for Brazil

Júnior Baiano also played for the Brazil national team. He earned 25 caps (played 25 games) for his country between 1997 and 1998.

He was part of the Brazil squad that played in the 1998 World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. Brazil reached the final of the 1998 World Cup in Paris. He also played in the 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup and helped Brazil win the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup.
