Brandon Perry (born January 12, 1991) is an American rapper from Maryland. He is better known by his stage name K.A.A.N. This name stands for Knowledge Above All Nonsense. K.A.A.N. is famous for his very fast rapping style, where he uses many words quickly. His songs often talk about important topics like mental health, challenges people face, and society.

About K.A.A.N.'s Life and Music
Brandon Perry grew up in Maryland. He lived in a trailer park. He started loving music when he was very young. His parents often played music by artists like Tupac Shakur. He also listened to other famous rappers such as Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and Big Krit.
Early Music Journey
K.A.A.N. says that when he was about ten years old, he bought every CD by Tupac. He also listened to artists like Nas, Biggie, Eminem, and Jay-Z. These artists helped shape his love for music.
Getting Noticed
Perry began releasing his own music around 2014. However, he really started to get attention when he released a video called "KAANCEPTS". Before becoming a full-time musician, Perry worked hard at a construction company. He worked six days a week to earn money to support his music career.
Where He Works Now
Today, K.A.A.N. lives in Los Angeles. He writes and records his music at Dr. Dre's Record One Studio. In 2018, he released a song called “Rest Easy” as a tribute to the rapper Mac Miller. In 2022, he released his twenty-fifth album, which was titled “The High Before You Fall”.
K.A.A.N.'s Musical Style
K.A.A.N. has shared that Tupac Shakur is one of his biggest inspirations. He felt a strong connection to Tupac's music. He studied Tupac's songs carefully to understand every word and how he expressed himself.
Other Influences
Besides Tupac, K.A.A.N. has been inspired by many other rap artists. These include Nas, Eminem, Das EFX, EPMD, Big Pun, Biggie, and Wu-Tang Clan. He also gets ideas from artists in other music styles. Some of these are Etta James, Smokey Robinson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Nirvana, and Adele.
His Voice in Music
When asked about his role as a Black artist in rap music, K.A.A.N. explained that he is aware of the challenges faced by Black people in society. He feels it's important to know what is happening around him. However, he also says that when he writes music, he speaks for himself and his own experiences, not for everyone.
