KTUU-TV is a TV station in Anchorage, Alaska. It is known as Channel 2. This station shows programs from the NBC network. KTUU-TV is owned by a company called Gray Television. It shares its main building with another TV station, KYES-TV. The station's broadcast tower is in Knik, Alaska.
You can watch KTUU-TV on cable, like GCI channel 2. It is also available in high definition on digital channel 652. KTUU-TV has been a very popular TV station in Anchorage for many years. Its news programs are especially strong. This has made KTUU one of the best NBC stations in the whole country.
Awards and Achievements
The news team at Channel 2 often wins awards. These awards are for their great work in news reporting.
- In 1999, KTUU was the first TV station in Alaska to have its own satellite truck. This truck helps them send live news reports from far away.
- The National Press Photographers Association gave KTUU a special award. They named it the Small Market Television News Photography Station of the Year. This happened in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
- In 2013, KTUU was also the first station in Alaska to broadcast its news in high definition. This means their picture quality is very clear.
Digital TV Transition
KTUU-TV used to broadcast using an older system called analog. On June 12, 2009, the station stopped its analog signal. This was part of a big change across the United States. All full-power TV stations switched from analog to digital broadcasts. Digital signals offer a clearer picture and sound.
