Kajal Aggarwal (born June 19, 1985), also known by her married name Kajal A Kitchlu, is an Indian actress. She is famous for her work in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi movies. She is considered one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses in South Indian cinema.

Aggarwal started her acting career in 2004 with a small role in the Hindi film Kyun! Ho Gaya Na.... Her first leading role in a Telugu film was Lakshmi Kalyanam in 2007. She became very well-known after starring in the movie Chandamama that same year.

A major turning point in her career was the 2009 fantasy film Magadheera. It was one of the highest-grossing Telugu films ever made and earned her praise from critics. She has also starred in many other successful movies, including the Hindi films Singham (2011) and Special 26 (2013).

In 2020, a wax statue of Aggarwal was added to the Madame Tussauds Singapore museum. She was the first actress from South Indian cinema to receive this honor.

Kajal Aggarwal was born on June 19, 1985, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. She grew up in a Punjabi family. Her father, Vinay Aggarwal, is a businessman, and her mother, Suman Aggarwal, is a confectioner (a person who makes sweets) and also her business manager. Kajal has a younger sister named Nisha Aggarwal, who is also an actress.

Aggarwal went to St. Anne's High School in Mumbai. She later studied mass media at Kishinchand Chellaram College, focusing on marketing and advertising. For a long time, she dreamed of getting an MBA degree.

Acting Career

Early Career (2004–2008)

Aggarwal's first movie role was a small part in the 2004 Hindi film Kyun! Ho Gaya Na.... In 2007, she starred in her first Telugu movie, Lakshmi Kalyanam. Later that year, her role in the film Chandamama was a big success and made her more famous.

In 2008, she appeared in her first Tamil film, Pazhani. She also had a small guest role in the Tamil movie Saroja, which was a hit. However, her role was too small to make a big impact on her career at the time.

Rise to Fame (2009–2012)

The year 2009 was very important for Aggarwal. She starred in the Telugu historical movie Magadheera with actor Ram Charan Teja. In the film, she played two different characters: a princess from the past and a modern young woman. The movie was a huge success and became the highest-grossing Telugu film at that time. Her performance was praised by critics.

Between 2010 and 2012, she starred in many successful films.

  • In Telugu cinema, she appeared in hits like Darling (2010), Brindavanam (2010), Mr. Perfect (2011), and Businessman (2012). These movies helped establish her as a top actress.

From 2013 to 2017, Aggarwal continued to be a leading star in South Indian cinema. In 2013, she starred in the successful Telugu action film Naayak. She also appeared in the popular Hindi heist film Special 26 and the Telugu blockbuster Baadshah.

In 2014, she acted in the hit Tamil film Jilla and the successful Telugu family drama Govindudu Andarivadele. The following year, she starred in the Telugu action film Temper (2015), which was also a commercial success.

In 2017, she had several major releases. She starred with top actors in the Tamil films Vivegam and Mersal, and the Telugu film Khaidi No. 150. All three were very successful. Her performance in Nene Raju Nene Mantri (2017) as the strong wife of a politician also won her an award.

Recent Work (2018–Present)

In 2018, Aggarwal starred in the film Awe, where she played a woman with a troubled mind. In 2019, she appeared in the hit Tamil comedy Comali and played the lead role of a selfish businesswoman in the Telugu film Sita.

In 2021, she appeared in the Hindi movie Mumbai Saga and the Telugu film Mosagallu. In 2022, she starred in the Tamil romantic comedy Hey Sinamika. Her 2023 film was Bhagavanth Kesari.

In 2025, she appeared in the Hindi film Sikandar alongside Salman Khan. Her other recent projects include Kannappa, Indian 3, and Ramayana: Part 1.

Personal Life

On October 30, 2020, Kajal Aggarwal married Gautam Kitchlu, an entrepreneur. The wedding was a small, private ceremony in Mumbai with only their close family present.

On April 19, 2022, the couple had a baby boy, whom they named Neil.

Kajal Aggarwal is one of the most famous and influential actresses in South India. She has often been listed as one of the highest-paid actresses in the region.

In 2015, Forbes India magazine included her on its Celebrity 100 list. She is also very popular on social media and was one of the most-followed Telugu actors on Instagram as of August 2024. She has been a brand ambassador for many companies, including Panasonic, Dabur, and Pond's.
