Konidela Ram Charan (born on March 27, 1985) is a famous Indian actor, film producer, and businessman. He mainly works in Telugu cinema, which is also called Tollywood. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema. People also know him for his amazing dancing skills.

Since 2013, Ram Charan has been on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list. This list features the most famous people in India. He has won many awards, including four Filmfare Awards and two Nandi Awards.

Ram Charan started acting in the action film Chirutha (2007). This movie was a big hit. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South for his first role. He became very popular after starring in S. S. Rajamouli's fantasy action film Magadheera (2009). At that time, Magadheera was the highest-earning Telugu film ever. For this role, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.

Ram Charan was born in Madras (now Chennai) on March 27, 1985. His family is Telugu. His father is the famous Telugu film actor Chiranjeevi, and his mother is Surekha. Ram Charan's family comes from towns called Mogalthuru and Palakollu in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. His grandfather on his mother's side was a well-known comic actor named Allu Ramalingaiah. Ram Charan has two sisters, an older one named Sushmitha and a younger one named Sreeja.

Ram Charan went to school at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan in Chennai. He also studied at Lawrence School, Lovedale, The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, and St. Mary's College, Hyderabad. He also took acting classes at Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting school in Mumbai.

Starting His Acting Journey (2007–2009)

In 2007, Ram Charan made his first movie, an action film called Chirutha. It was directed by Puri Jagannadh. The movie was very successful. In 2019, he appeared in the action film Vinaya Vidheya Rama. This movie received negative reviews and did not do well at the box office. Ram Charan even wrote an apology to his fans because of the film's failure.

However, in March 2022, his film RRR, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, was released. In this movie, he played the role of Alluri Sitarama Raju alongside N. T. Rama Rao Jr.. The film received widespread praise from critics in India and other countries. His acting in RRR was especially praised. RRR became the third highest-earning Indian film ever and the second highest-earning Telugu film worldwide. For his role, he was nominated for a Critics' Choice Super Best Actor in an Action Movie and won his third Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.

He also starred with his father Chiranjeevi in the film Acharya (2022). In February 2021, he signed a new film called Game Changer, which is still being filmed and is expected to be completed by 2024.

Other Activities and Ventures

Ram Charan is a skilled horse rider. He learned horse-riding when he was a child. In September 2011, he started his own polo team called Ram Charan Hyderabad Polo Riding Club. He also served on the board of directors for Maa TV, a television channel. In 2009, he became a spokesperson for Pepsi's advertisements.

In 2013, Ram Charan helped start an airline company called Turbo Megha Airways Private Limited. In 2015, the airline was named TruJet. He is also a spokesperson and co-owner of an obstacle running series called Devil's Circuit.

Ram Charan started his own film production company, Konidela Production Company, in 2016. The first film his company produced was his father Chiranjeevi's 150th film, Khaidi No. 150 (2017). Ram Charan often organizes blood donation camps. On May 26, 2021, he and his father Chiranjeevi launched oxygen banks through the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust. These banks were started in different parts of India, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They helped provide oxygen during the shortage of oxygen cylinders and concentrators during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Personal Life and Beliefs

Ram Charan is married to Upasana Kamineni. She is the vice-chairman of Apollo Charity and the Chief Editor of B Positive magazine. Upasana is the daughter of Shobana Kamineni and the granddaughter of Prathap C. Reddy, who founded Apollo Hospitals. Ram Charan and Upasana got engaged in December 2011 and married on June 14, 2012, in Hyderabad. They were friends since they were in ninth grade in the same school in Chennai. On June 20, 2023, they had their first child, a daughter.

Religious Practices

Every year, Ram Charan takes part in the 41-day-long Ayyappa Deeksha (Vratham). This is a spiritual practice done for Sabarimala in Kerala. He started this practice in 2008. Ram Charan has said that this spiritual time helps him relax and de-stress from his busy work schedule. He eats simple, healthy food and finds inner peace. He shared that his father Chiranjeevi inspired him to follow this practice.

In 2016, GQ India included Ram Charan in their list of Best Dressed Men. People often call him the "Mega Power Star" in the media. This title combines "Mega Star" (his father Chiranjeevi's title) and "Power Star" (his uncle Pawan Kalyan's title). He has been on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2013.

When the Japanese version of Magadheera was released in Japan, Ram Charan became very popular there. A Japanese food company even printed his photo on their biscuit packets. Being from a film family, he has spoken about nepotism in the film industry. He believes that everyone has their own unique talent and can achieve their own level of stardom. In July 2022, actress Raveena Tandon said that Ram Charan, along with Yash and Prabhas, are now famous across all of India.
