Kalvin Pearson (born October 22, 1978) is an American football coach and a former player. He played as a safety, a defensive position in football. Currently, he is the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach for Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. He has held this coaching role since 2023.
Pearson started his professional playing career in 2002. He was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. This means he was not chosen in the main NFL draft but was still picked up by a team. He played college football at Grambling State University.

Early Life and High School
Kalvin Pearson grew up in Town Creek, Alabama. He went to Hazlewood High School. While there, he was a talented football player. He earned a "letterman" title, which means he was a key player on the school's team.
College Football Journey
After high school, Pearson began his college football career. He first attended Morehouse College. Later, he transferred to Grambling State University. At Grambling, he continued to play football. He was an important player for the Grambling Tigers team.
Professional Playing Career
Kalvin Pearson played several years in the NFL. After starting with the Cleveland Browns in 2002, he also played for other teams. He was a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2004 to 2007. Later, he joined the Detroit Lions, playing for them from 2008 to 2009.
During his time as a player, Pearson made many important plays. He recorded 199 total tackles. He also had 1.0 sacks, forced 5 fumbles, and recovered 3 fumbles. He was known for his ability to defend passes, with 7 pass deflections.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Kalvin Pearson became a football coach. He started coaching at Grambling State University from 2011 to 2013 as an assistant coach. In 2014, he worked for the Dallas Cowboys as an assistant special teams coordinator.
He also coached at the high school level. From 2015, and again from 2017 to 2022, he coached at A. H. Parker High School in Alabama. He served as a secondary coach and special teams coordinator. Since 2023, he has been coaching at Lane College. He is the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Lane Dragons.
