Kang Seung-hyun, also known as Hyoni Kang, is a famous South Korean model. She was born on September 22, 1987. In 2008, when she was 19, Hyoni won the Ford Model of the World contest. She was the first Asian model to ever win this big award.

Career
Becoming a Model
Kang Seung-hyun started her modeling career in February 2008. She made her official debut by opening the fall 3.1 Phillip Lim show in New York City. Later that year, in September 2008, she opened the spring Trovata show. She also closed the spring Nanette Lepore show in New York.
She walked for many other famous designers too. These included 3.1 Phillip Lim, DKNY, Halston, and Michael Kors. In February 2009, she walked in shows for Badgley Mischka, Tory Burch, and House of Holland. These shows took place in New York and London. In February 2010, she opened shows for Maria Cornejo and Osman Yousefzada. She also closed shows for Karen Walker and Amanda Wakeley.
Magazine Appearances
Besides walking on runways, Kang Seung-hyun also appeared in many famous magazines. In April 2008, she was on the cover of the South Korean Vogue magazine. This was her first major magazine cover.
In July of the same year, she was featured in an editorial for V magazine. She wore Gucci clothes in this photoshoot. A month later, in August, she appeared in an editorial for Teen Vogue. In July 2010, she was in a Marie Claire editorial. She also appeared in Vogue China in March, September, and October 2011.
In September 2014, Kang signed a contract with YG KPLUS. This is a well-known modeling agency.
Starting Her Own Business
In December 2009, Kang Seung-hyun started her own fashion brand. It is a vintage fashion brand called Reborn Process. She began this business with Yoon Ae-ri, a stylist, and Lee Jun-yeop, a photographer.
Instead of showing collections first, Kang opened her store right away. She then started creating her collections as Reborn Process became popular. She finds clothes mainly from Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York. Then, she redesigns and remakes them to fit today's styles. She wants her collection to be "one of a kind." Her goal is for Reborn Process to become a multi-brand shop. Her store is located in SoHo, New York.
Designing Bags
Kang Seung-hyun also worked as a designer. She teamed up with a South Korean fashion brand called Love Cat. She designed bags for a special line called Hyoni-line. She worked on these designs while traveling between New York and Seoul, South Korea.
These limited edition bags came out in September 2011. They became very popular because of their stylish and romantic look. They were also practical. You could adjust the straps, use a different chain strap, or even remove all straps to use the bag as a clutch.
In April 2013, it was announced that Kang would work with another South Korean brand, Lapalette. She designed a special line of handbags for them. These bags were released in June 2013. You could buy them on Lapalette's website.
Directing Fashion Films
In May 2012, Kang Seung-hyun started a fashion film series called Hyoni TV. She wrote, directed, produced, and hosted these films herself. Hyoni TV was filmed in New York. In the films, Hyoni explained New Yorker's fashion styles. She also gave tips on how to style outfits. She introduced famous fashion people in her films, like Eva Chen, an editor for Teen Vogue, and Shu Pei Quin, a model.
Hosting TV Shows
Kang Seung-hyun was a main host for a South Korean fashion TV show called Get It Style. This show aimed to be a "Style Bible" for viewers. It first aired on February 7, 2013. The show was planned for only four episodes. However, it was so popular that the directors added six more episodes.
On Get It Style, Kang did more than just talk about fashion trends. She also showed items that fit different people's styles. She gave advice on how to dress for different events. She also taught viewers how to use clothes they already owned and how to shop smartly.
Other TV Appearances
Before hosting Get It Style, Kang appeared on TV a few times. She was an MC for a show called Trend Report Feel season 6. She also appeared in an episode of the Korean reality TV show, Muhan Dojeon, also known as Infinite Challenge, on December 5, 2009.
Kang was also featured in Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation's Never Ending Story. She appeared in the Korean Broadcasting System's Global Success Time Period of Kang Seung-Hyun episode. In July 2014, she appeared on the famous SBS show, Running Man.
