Karamo Karega Brown (born November 2, 1980) is an American television host, author, and activist. He is best known as the culture expert on the Netflix show Queer Eye.
In 2022, Brown also started hosting his own talk show called Karamo. He is known for helping people and for his work in the community.

Personal Life
Karamo Brown was born in Houston, Texas, and has three older sisters. His family background is Jamaican and Cuban. When he was 15, he shared with others that he was gay. Brown grew up in Coral Springs, Florida, and went to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. After high school, he attended Florida A&M University.
In 2007, Brown learned that he was the father of a 10-year-old boy named Jason. He gained custody of his son and became a full-time dad. In 2010, he also adopted Jason's half-brother, Chris. The family moved to Los Angeles in 2011, where they still live.
From 2010 to 2020, Brown was in a relationship with director Ian Jordan. Since 2021, he has been with his partner, Carlos Medel.
Career in Television and Books
Early TV Appearances
Karamo first appeared on television in 2004 on the MTV reality show The Real World: Philadelphia. This made him one of the first openly gay Black men on reality TV. After The Real World, he appeared on other shows, including The Next 15 in 2016.
He also worked as a host for shows on HLN and for online news channels like The Young Turks and HuffPost Live.
Becoming Famous with Queer Eye
Brown's biggest role came in 2018 when he joined the cast of Netflix's Queer Eye. As the "Culture Expert," he helps people learn to communicate better and connect with their communities. The show became very popular all over the world.
In 2019, he competed on the dance show Dancing with the Stars. He was paired with professional dancer Jenna Johnson.
Hosting His Own Show
In 2022, Brown began hosting his own daytime talk show, Karamo. The show deals with helping people solve problems in their relationships. It took the place of the long-running Maury show.
Writing Books
Karamo is also an author. In 2019, he released his life story, a book called Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope.
He also wrote a children's book with his son, Jason, called I Am Perfectly Designed. Jason said the title comes from a phrase his dad would often say to him as he was growing up.
Activism and Community Work
Karamo uses his fame to help others. In 2015, he co-founded an organization called 6in10.org. This group provides mental health support and education to the Black LGBT community.
He has also worked with former President Barack Obama and the White House to help create programs for LGBTQ youth. He has partnered with groups like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote health and wellness.
In 2018, he traveled to Washington, D.C., to ask lawmakers for more funding for the arts. He believes in the power of art and culture to bring people together.
