Jaskaran Singh Aujla (born 18 January 1997) is a popular Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He lives in Canada and is famous for his Punjabi music. Many of his songs have been very successful. They have appeared on the UK Asian music chart. Seven of his songs have also charted on the Global YouTube music chart.

His first album, Bacthafucup, reached number 20 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. It also reached number 34 on the New Zealand albums chart. In 2021, Spotify named him the "Largest Digital Artist". He was also listed among the "Most Popular Artists in Punjabi Music Industry".

Karan Aujla comes from Ghurala, a village in Ludhiana district. He started his career by writing songs for other artists. One of his first songs was "Range" for Jassi Gill. Later, he moved to Canada. There, he wrote lyrics for artists like Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat. In 2016, he released his first song as a lead artist, "Property of Punjab". He then started appearing as a guest artist in many songs.

He became well-known with songs like "Yaarian Ch Fikk" and "Don't Worry". "Don't Worry" was his first song to enter the UK Asian chart in 2018. In 2020, his songs "Jhanjar", "Red Eyes", and "Kya Baat Aa" reached the top 10 on the chart. His song "So Far" even made it into the top 5.

Early life and beginnings

Jaskaran Singh Aujla was born on January 18, 1997. He grew up in Ghurala village in Ludhiana district, Punjab. His parents, Balwinder Singh Aujla and Rajinder Kaur, passed away when he was nine years old. His sisters and uncle raised him after that.

When he was in 9th grade, Aujla met Jassi Gill at a wedding. He offered Gill the lyrics for a song called Range. Gill sang the song, and it became very popular. Aujla later received his permanent residency in Canada and moved there. He finished his high school studies in Burnaby, Canada. He also worked part-time as a longshoreman in Surrey, British Columbia.

In 2014, he released his first song, "Cell Phone," with Mac Benipal. It did not get many views at first. In Canada, he began working with Deep Jandu at his studio in Toronto.

Aujla started his music journey with Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat. He wrote lyrics for many artists. These included Jassi Gill, Elly Mangat, Gagan Kokri, Jazzy B, Bohemia, and Sukh-E. His song "Blessings of Bapu," sung by Gagan Kokri, was very well-liked.

In 2016, he released his first song as a main artist, "Property of Punjab." He then started to feature and rap in other songs. Soon after, he released more songs as a lead artist.

Rise to fame (2018-2019)

Aujla became very famous with his song "Don't Worry." It featured Gurlez Akhtar. The music video for this song has been watched over 100 million times on YouTube. It was Aujla's first song to enter the UK Asian music chart.

After "Don't Worry," he had more successful songs. These included "Rim vs Jhanjhar," "Na Na Na," and "No Need." "Rim vs Jhanjhar" was even added to Apple Music's Punjabi essentials playlist for the 2010s. His song "Don't Look" stayed on the Asian Music Chart for over twenty-four weeks. It also appeared on the 2019 Apple Music India charts.

Other songs like "Hair," "2AM," and "Hint" also ranked on the charts. In July 2019, Aujla released a song for the movie Sikander 2. His song "Hint" was trending on YouTube in India for over five days. It also ranked on many different charts. The song reached number 13 on the Asian music chart. It also appeared on YouTube charts in India, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In December 2019, Aujla became the most-listened artist in Punjab, India on YouTube. His song "Chitta Kurta" also did well on the Global and Indian YouTube charts. In 2019, Spotify listed Aujla as one of the most popular artists in Punjab.

Established singer (2020-present)

In January 2020, the music video for his song "Jhanjar" received over five million views in just 24 hours on YouTube. It topped the trending lists in Australia, Canada, and India. The song debuted at number 26 on the Global YouTube music chart. It also entered the top 10 on the UK Asian music chart. His next song, "Red Eyes," reached number 8 on the UK Asian chart. It also appeared on other YouTube charts.

In May 2020, four of his songs appeared on the UK Asian chart at the same time. These were "Red Eyes," "Sheikh," "Chitta Kurta," and "Jhanjar." Aujla also shared on Instagram that he was working on his first album. In June 2020, his song "Let 'em Play" reached number 14 on the Apple Music chart. It also debuted at number 15 on the UK Asian chart. In July 2020, "So Far" became his first song to enter the top 5 on the UK Asian chart.

His song "Haan Haige Aa" was viewed around eleven million times in 24 hours. In the same month, his song "G.O.A.T." from Diljit Dosanjh's album of the same name was released. It became a huge success. This song reached number 13 on the New Zealand Hot Singles chart. It also topped the UK Asian, UK Punjabi, and Top Triller Global charts by Billboard. This was his first song to appear on any New Zealand and Billboard official chart. It also reached number one on the Apple Music chart in India.

In August 2020, "Kya Baat Aa" was released without any announcement. It featured Tania in its music video. The song reached number one on the Spotify chart in India. His next song "Adhiya" was released on YouTube in October 2020. His song "Chithiyan," released in November 2020, got 32 million views in two weeks. In December, he worked with Bohemia, The Game, and J. Hind on a song called "Ek Din." He released his song "Hukam" in February 2021. He also worked with Dilpreet Dhillon for the fifth time on the song "Jatt Te Jawani" in April 2021.

Later in 2021, he announced his first album, Bacthafucup (B.T.F.U.). It was produced by Tru Skool. He released the album's first song "Chu Gon Do" in July. The full album was released on September 15, 2021. The album became very popular and appeared on many charts on Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify.

On September 16, 2021, Karan Aujla became India's Biggest Digital Artist. He was ranked 38th worldwide. His first album also charted at number 6 on Spotify Global Debut Album. On September 29, 2021, his album BTFU reached number 19 on the Billboard Top Canadian Albums.

In 2022, he released "YKWIM" with the rapper KR$NA. He also announced a new EP called "Way Ahead."

In 2019, Karan Aujla got engaged to his girlfriend, Palak. They got married on March 2, 2023.

In 2019, he got a tattoo of his mother's face on his right arm. He also has a tattoo of his father on the same arm. In March 2020, he got tattoos of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh on his left arm.

Aujla has said he would like to work with American rapper 50 Cent and Canadian rapper Drake.

Hukam clothing

Aujla started his own clothing brand called "Hukam Clothing." He launched it on November 25, 2021.

Apple Music Up-next Program

Karan Aujla is the first Punjabi artist to be part of Apple Music's Up Next Program. As part of this program, he made a new short film. He also released an Apple Music version of his new EP, 'Four Me.'
