Jaskaran Singh Aujla (born on January 18, 1997) is a popular Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is based in Canada and is well-known for his Punjabi music. Many of his songs have been very successful, appearing on the UK Asian chart and the Global YouTube music chart. His first album, B.T.F.U., reached high positions on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart and the New Zealand albums chart. In 2021, Spotify recognized him as a top digital artist and one of the most popular artists in the Punjabi Music Industry.
Karan Aujla began his career writing songs for other artists. He first gained attention with songs like "Yaarian Ch Fikk" and "Unity." He became widely popular in 2018 with his song "Don't Worry," which was his first song to appear on the UK Asian chart. In 2020, several of his songs, including "Jhanjar" and "Kya Baat Aa," reached the top 10 on the chart.

Early Life and Moving to Canada
Jaskaran Singh Aujla was born on January 18, 1997, in a village called Ghurala in the Ludhiana district of Punjab, India. Sadly, his parents passed away when he was nine years old. After that, his sisters and uncle raised him.
When he was in ninth grade, Aujla met singer Jassi Gill at a wedding. He offered Gill the lyrics for a song called Range, which became very popular locally. In 2014, Aujla moved to Canada. He lived with his sister in Vancouver, British Columbia, and went to Burnaby South Secondary School in Burnaby. While studying, Aujla also worked part-time as a longshoreman in Surrey.
Music Career Journey
Starting Out (2014-2017)

Karan Aujla's first song as a lead artist was "Cell Phone" with Mac Benipal in 2014. It didn't become a big hit. After this, Aujla started spending time in studios with artists like Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat in Toronto, Ontario. He began writing songs for many other singers, including Gill, Mangat, Gagan Kokri, Jazzy B, Bohemia, and Sukh-E. One of the songs he wrote, "Blessings of Bapu," sung by Kokri, was very well-liked by listeners.
In 2016, he released his first song as a main artist, "Property of Punjab." He also started appearing as a guest rapper in other songs. Soon after, he released more of his own songs, such as "... 2", "Yaarian Ch Fikk", "... Talk", "Up & Down", and "Lafaafe".
Becoming Famous (2018-2019)
Aujla became widely known with his song "Don't Worry," which featured Gurlez Akhtar. The music video for this song has been watched over a hundred million times on YouTube. It was also Aujla's first song to appear on the UK Asian music chart.
After "Don't Worry," he had more successful songs like "Rim vs Jhanjhar," "Na Na Na," and "No Need." "Rim vs Jhanjhar" was even included in Apple Music's list of top Punjabi songs from the 2010s. His song "Don't Look" stayed on the Asian Music Chart for over twenty-four weeks and also appeared on Apple Music India charts in 2019. Other songs like "Hair," "2AM," and "Hint" also ranked on the charts.
In July 2019, Aujla released a title track for the movie Sikander 2. His song "Hint" was a top trending video on YouTube in India for more than five days. It also reached number 13 on the Asian music chart and appeared on YouTube charts in various countries. By December 2019, Aujla became the most-listened artist in Punjab, India on YouTube. His song "Chitta Kurta" also reached high positions on the Global and Indian YouTube charts. In 2019, Spotify listed Aujla among the most popular artists in Punjab.
Established Artist (2020-Present)
In January 2020, the music video for his song "Jhanjar" received over five million views in just 24 hours on YouTube. It topped the trending lists in Australia, Canada, and India. The song also entered the top 10 on the UK Asian music chart. His next song, "Red Eyes", reached number 8 on the UK Asian chart and appeared on other YouTube charts.
In April 2020, his song "Sheikh" and its music video were accidentally released early. Within hours, Aujla officially released the song and video himself. By May 2020, four of his songs—"Red Eyes," "Sheikh," "Chitta Kurta," and "Jhanjar"—were all on the UK Asian chart at the same time. In June 2020, his song "Let 'em Play" reached number 14 on the Apple Music chart and number 15 on the UK Asian chart. In July 2020, "So Far" became his first song to enter the top 5 on the UK Asian chart.
His song "Haan Haige Aa" was viewed about eleven million times in twenty-four hours. In the same month, a song he wrote called "G.O.A.T." from Diljit Dosanjh's album of the same name was released and became a huge success. This song debuted at number 13 on the New Zealand Hot Singles chart and topped the UK Asian, UK Punjabi, and Top Triller Global charts by Billboard. It was his first song to appear on any official New Zealand and Billboard chart. It also reached number one on the Apple Music chart in India.
In August 2020, "Kya Baat Aa," featuring actress Tania in its music video, was released without any prior announcement. This song reached number one on the Spotify chart in India. His next song "Adhiya" was released on YouTube in October 2020. His song "Chithiyan," released in November 2020, gained 32 million views within two weeks. In December, he worked with Bohemia, The Game, and J. Hind on a song called "Ek Din." He released his song "Hukam" in February 2021. He also worked with Dilpreet Dhillon for the fifth time on the song "Jatt Te Jawani" in April 2021.
Later in 2021, he announced his first album, B.T.F.U., which was produced by Tru Skool. In June, he released "Intro," followed by "Chu Gon Do," the album's first single, in July. The full album was released on September 15, 2021. It became very popular on Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify.
On September 16, 2021, Karan Aujla became India's biggest digital artist, ranking 38th worldwide. His first album reached number 6 on the Spotify Global Debut Album chart and number 19 on the Billboard Canadian Album charts.
In January 2022, he released "YKWIM" with rapper KR$NA. He also announced his first EP (Extended Play) called Way Ahead, which was released in May 2022. This was followed by his EPs Four You in 2023 and Four Me in 2024.
In 2023, he released his second studio album, Making Memories, which reached number 5 on the Billboard Canadian Album charts. This album featured modern Punjabi-pop songs that mixed traditional folk sounds with new synth and guitar music. It was praised for its great production and catchy tunes. In January 2024, he released an acoustic version of three songs from the album called Making Memories (Unplugged).
In February 2024, he worked with Divine on the album Street Dreams. This album combined strong hip-hop with smooth R&B pop and debuted at number 22 on the Billboard Canadian Album charts.
Personal Life
In 2019, Karan Aujla got tattoos of his mother's and father's faces on his right arm. In March 2020, he got tattoos of Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh on his left arm.
Aujla married his girlfriend, Palak, in 2023. He has a Canadian Permanent Residency Card.
Aujla has shared that he would like to work with famous rappers 50 Cent and Drake.
Incident in 2019
In June 2019, there were rumors that Aujla was attacked in Surrey, British Columbia. Aujla later stated that these reports were just rumors.
