Karunamayudu (which means Ocean of Mercy) is a 1978 Indian film made in the Telugu language. It tells the true story of Jesus of Nazareth and his life. The main actor, Vijayachander, plays Jesus. This movie won two Nandi Awards, which are important film awards in India. It was also shown at the International Film Festival of India. The film is famous for its songs that tell about the birth of Jesus and his arrival in Jerusalem.

A later film, Dayamayudu (1987), continued the story with Vijayachander playing Saint Paul. There was also a TV show called Dayasagar in the 1990s where Vijayachander played Jesus again.
