Katharine Isobel Murray (born November 2, 1981), known by her stage name Katharine Isabelle, is a Canadian actress. She is often called a "scream queen" because she has starred in many popular horror movies.
Isabelle began acting in 1989 with a small part in the TV show MacGyver. She became famous for playing Ginger Fitzgerald in the horror film series Ginger Snaps. For her role in the 2012 horror film American Mary, she won the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Actress.

Katharine Isabelle Murray was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her father, Graeme Murray, is a production designer who won two Emmy Awards for his work on the TV series The X-Files. Her mother, Gail Johnson Murray, is a writer and producer.
Isabelle's half-brother, Joshua Murray, is also a director and former actor. She acted alongside him in the movies Cold Front and The Last Winter.
Acting Career

Isabelle started her acting career when she was only eight years old. She used the name Katie Murray for her first role in a 1989 episode of MacGyver. After that, she appeared in several other TV shows and movies.
In 1998, she acted in the movie Disturbing Behavior with other famous actors like Katie Holmes and James Marsden. The same year, she appeared in an episode of The X-Files called "Schizogeny", where she got to work with her father, Graeme.
Breakthrough with Ginger Snaps
Isabelle's big break came in 2000 when she starred as Ginger Fitzgerald in the horror film Ginger Snaps. She acted alongside Emily Perkins, who played her sister, Brigitte. The movie is about two sisters who are fascinated by spooky things. One night, a strange creature attacks Ginger, and she begins to change in mysterious ways.
The film was a huge hit, and Isabelle's performance made her famous in the horror movie world. She returned to play Ginger in two more films: a sequel called Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004) and a prequel called Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (2004).

Personal Life
Even though she stars in many scary movies, Isabelle is uncomfortable with the sight of real blood.
In 2003, she became very sick with a viral infection that caused serious health problems, including a collapsed lung and kidney failure. She was in a coma for a time but made a full recovery. She shared this story with her fans on her Instagram account in 2020.
