Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, also known as Casimir the Great University (UKW), is a public university in Bydgoszcz, Poland. It is named after Casimir III the Great. He was a King of Poland from 1333 to 1370. King Casimir gave the city of Bydgoszcz special rights on April 19, 1346.

History of the University
Kazimierz Wielki University is a public university that started in 1968. As the university grew, its structure and name changed over time.
It began as the Teachers Training College from 1969 to 1974. It had three main study areas: Humanities, Mathematics & Natural Sciences, and Pedagogy. From 1974 to 2000, it was called the Higher School of Pedagogy. During this time, it focused on training teachers.
Then, from 2000 to 2005, it became the Kazimierz Wielki Academy of Bydgoszcz. Finally, on May 13, 2005, it officially became the Kazimierz Wielki University.

The university offers many different subjects for students. Here are some of the main areas you can study:
