Kazimierz Wielki University (also known as Casimir the Great University) is a public university in Bydgoszcz, Poland. It is a place where students can learn many different subjects. The university is named after Casimir III the Great. He was a King of Poland from 1333 to 1370. King Casimir gave the city of Bydgoszcz its special city rights on April 19, 1346.

University History
Kazimierz Wielki University started in 1969. It has grown and changed its name several times over the years.
How the University Grew
- It began as the Teachers Training College (1969–1974). It had three main study areas: Humanities, Math & Science, and Education.
- From 1974 to 2000, it was called the Higher School of Pedagogy. It focused on training future teachers.
- Then, from 2000 to 2005, it became the Kazimierz Wielki Academy of Bydgoszcz.
- Finally, on May 13, 2005, it officially became Kazimierz Wielki University.
What Can You Study?
The university has different departments, called faculties. Each faculty focuses on a specific group of subjects.
- Faculty of Humanities (like history, languages, and literature)
- Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Technical Sciences
- Faculty of Natural Sciences (like biology and chemistry)
- Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology (about teaching and how people think)

Casimir the Great University offers about 100 different courses and special subjects. In 2010, about 14,000 students studied there. Around 33% of these students came from outside the local region.
