Kearsarge is a community located in the beautiful state of New Hampshire, in the United States. It's a special place because it's part of two different towns: Conway and Bartlett. Kearsarge is named after a tall mountain called Kearsarge North, which stands at 3,268 feet and looks over the community. You can find the center of Kearsarge about 1.5 miles north of North Conway, where Kearsarge Road meets Hurricane Mountain Road.
Mail and ZIP Codes in Kearsarge
Every place in the United States has a special number called a ZIP code to help mail get to the right spot. Kearsarge has its own unique ZIP code, which is 03847. This is different from the ZIP codes for North Conway, Conway, or Bartlett.
For a long time, Kearsarge had its own post office. However, in March 2014, the U.S. Postal Service closed it. Now, people in Kearsarge who have a 03847 ZIP code get their mail from the post office in a nearby community called Intervale. If you live in Kearsarge, you can still use your 03847 ZIP code, but no new post office boxes are being given out for that code.
How Kearsarge is Governed
Kearsarge has a special group called the Kearsarge Lighting Precinct. This group was started on May 29, 1957. A "precinct" is like a small local government area.
The Kearsarge Lighting Precinct is interesting because it covers parts of both the Conway and Bartlett towns. This group has the power to create and make sure people follow rules about how land can be used and what can be built there. These rules are called "zoning regulations." They help keep the community organized and looking nice.
