Keith James Holyoak (born January 16, 1950) is a Canadian-American scientist. He studies how people think and reason. This field is called cognitive psychology and cognitive science. Holyoak's work mostly focuses on how we use analogy in our thinking. Analogy means comparing one thing to another to help us understand new ideas.

His research has shown how using analogies can help both children and adults learn new and complex ideas. He also studies how our reasoning might be affected if there is brain damage.

Beyond his scientific work, Keith Holyoak is also a poet. He has published four books of his own poems. These include My Minotaur, Foreigner, The Gospel According to Judas, and Oracle Bones. He also translated a collection of old Chinese poems by Li Bai and Du Fu, called Facing the Moon.
