Keith Russell "Mister" Jennings, born on November 2, 1968, is an American basketball coach. He used to be a professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and also in leagues in Europe.
College Basketball Career
Keith Jennings went to East Tennessee State University for four years, from 1987 to 1991. He was a point guard, which is a player who leads the team's offense. He was 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 meters) tall.
In 1991, Keith won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award. This award goes to the best college senior basketball player who is 6 feet tall or shorter. He was also named a second-team All-American. This means he was one of the best college players in the country.
During his last year in college, he was amazing at shooting three-point field goals. He made 59 percent of them! This was the best in NCAA Division I that year.
His nickname "Mister" started when he was a child. His father gave him this special name.
Professional Basketball Career
Even though Keith Jennings was a great college player, no team picked him in the 1991 NBA draft. This meant he started his NBA career as a "free agent." A free agent can sign with any team.
He played three seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors from 1992 to 1995. He played in 164 games. On average, he scored 6.6 points and made 3.7 assists per game. An assist is when a player passes the ball to a teammate who then scores.
His best game in the NBA was on April 22, 1995. He scored 23 points! He made 8 out of 10 shots from the field and 3 out of 4 three-pointers. He also made all 4 of his free throws. In that game, he also had 10 assists.
After his time with the Warriors, the Toronto Raptors picked him in the 1995 expansion draft. This is a special draft where new teams pick players from other teams. However, he did not play for the Raptors.
Keith also played professional basketball in Europe. He played for teams in countries like France and Spain. In the 2003–04 season, he used his skills to help a basketball club in Strasbourg, France.
