Kenneth Comninos Michael, born on April 12, 1938, is an Australian civil engineer. A civil engineer designs and builds things like roads, bridges, and buildings. He was also a public servant, meaning he worked for the government. From 2006 to 2011, he served as the 30th Governor of Western Australia.

Ken Michael's Early Life and Career
Ken Michael was born in Perth, Western Australia. His parents came from the island of Kastellorizo in Greece.
Education and Public Service
Michael studied engineering at Imperial College London in the United Kingdom. He also attended the University of Western Australia.
He held many important roles in public service. He was the Commissioner of Main Roads WA, which means he was in charge of the main roads in Western Australia. He also led the East Perth Redevelopment Authority, helping to improve areas of Perth. He was a member of the Economic Regulation Authority and the Chancellor of the University of Western Australia. The Chancellor is like the head of the university.
Awards and Recognition
Ken Michael received several awards for his service. In 1996, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia. This award recognizes people who have done great things for Australia. In 2006, he received an even higher honor, becoming a Companion of the Order of Australia.
He was named Western Australian Citizen of the Year in 2001. In 2003, he received the Centenary Medal. This medal was given for his service to the public, engineering, and the Greek community.
Serving as Governor of Western Australia
On June 6, 2005, it was announced that Ken Michael would become the Governor of Western Australia. The Governor is the King's representative in the state. He was officially sworn in on January 18, 2006, at Government House, Perth. This ceremony was attended by the Premier of Western Australia, Alan Carpenter, and the Chief Justice, David Malcolm.
Community Involvement
In 2006, Ken Michael became the patron of the Fremantle Football Club. A patron is someone who supports an organization. He had been a member of the club since 1994. He also became the state patron for The Boys' Brigade, a youth organization.
End of Term and Later Roles
Ken Michael finished his term as Governor on May 2, 2011. After he left office, Wayne Martin temporarily took over as Administrator of Western Australia. Then, Malcolm McCusker became the new Governor on July 1, 2011.
In December 2016, Ken Michael was appointed Chairman of the Western Australian Cricket Association. This organization manages cricket in Western Australia.
