Kenneth Comninos Michael, also known as Ken Michael, was born on 12 April 1938. He is an Australian civil engineer and was the 30th Governor of Western Australia. He served in this important role from 2006 to 2011. A Governor is the Queen's (or King's) representative in an Australian state.

Ken Michael's Early Life and Career
Growing Up in Perth
Ken Michael was born in Perth, Western Australia. His parents were immigrants from the Greek island of Kastellorizo.
Education and Important Roles
He studied at Imperial College London, a famous university. Ken Michael held many important jobs before becoming Governor. He was a Commissioner for Main Roads WA, which means he helped manage the roads in Western Australia. He also chaired the East Perth Redevelopment Authority, helping to plan new buildings and areas.
He was also the Chancellor of the University of Western Australia. The Chancellor is like the head of the university.
Awards and Recognition
Ken Michael received several special awards for his work. In 1996, he became a Member of the Order of Australia. This award recognizes Australians who have done great things for their country. In 2006, he was given an even higher honor, becoming a Companion of the Order of Australia.
He was also named Western Australian Citizen of the Year in 2001. In 2003, he received the Centenary Medal for his service to the public, engineering, and the Greek community.
Serving as Governor of Western Australia
Becoming Governor
On 6 June 2005, it was announced that Ken Michael would become the next Governor. He officially started his role on 18 January 2006. The ceremony took place at Government House, Perth.
Community Involvement
As Governor, Ken Michael was involved in many community activities. In 2006, he became the patron of the Fremantle Football Club. A patron is someone who supports an organization or club. He had been a member of the club since 1994. He also became the state patron for The Boys' Brigade, a youth organization.
End of Term
Ken Michael finished his term as Governor on 2 May 2011. After he left, Wayne Martin temporarily took over as Administrator of Western Australia. Then, Malcolm McCusker became the new Governor on 1 July 2011.
Later Roles
In December 2016, Ken Michael was appointed Chairman of the Western Australian Cricket Association.
