History of Kennedale

Kennedale was first settled in the 1860s. The community got its name from Oliver S. Kennedy. He was important because he planned out the area. He also gave some of his land to the Southern Pacific Railroad. A notable fact is that Linda Rhodes became the city's first female Mayor.
