Kenneth Alexander Satterfield (born April 10, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kenny started his college basketball career with the Cincinnati Bearcats in 1999.
After a great second year in college, he decided to join the NBA. In the 2001 NBA draft, the Dallas Mavericks picked him as the 53rd player overall. He played for the Denver Nuggets from 2001 to 2002. Later, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers from December 2002 to 2003.
During his time with the Denver Nuggets, Kenny Satterfield gave his teammate Chris Andersen the famous nickname "Birdman."
Kenny played a total of 75 games in the NBA. On average, he scored 4.3 points, grabbed 1.3 rebounds, and made 2.3 assists per game. Interestingly, his last NBA game was against his former team, the Denver Nuggets. This game happened on March 2, 2003, at the Pepsi Center in Denver. The Philadelphia 76ers won 100-94. In that game, Kenny had 2 assists but no points.
Kenny Satterfield is also known as "Serious Satellite" on the streetball courts. He played in many summer basketball leagues in New York City.
Playing Basketball Around the World
After his time in the NBA, Kenny Satterfield played for the Fayetteville Patriots. This team was part of the NBDL, which is now called the NBA G League. He also played basketball in other countries. He played in France, Greece, Venezuela, and Lebanon.
In Lebanon, he played for a team called Al Hikmeh Sagesse in 2005–2006. He also played for Riyadi Beirut.
Winning a Championship
In 2010, Kenny Satterfield joined the Albany Legends team in the International Basketball League (IBL). He had some amazing games that season.
- On April 30, 2010, he achieved a "triple-double." This means he had double-digit numbers in three different stats. He scored 13 points, got 12 rebounds, and made 13 assists. His team lost that game 100–106 to the Tacoma Tide.
- On May 22, 2010, he had a fantastic game with 31 points and 18 assists. The Albany Legends won that game 142–124 against the Holland Blast.
Kenny finished the season as the team's leader in both points and assists. The Albany Legends went on to win the 2010 IBL Championship!
Personal Life
Kenny Satterfield has a daughter named Kae Satterfield. She also plays basketball. She played college basketball for Ohio State University, Xavier University, and Seton Hall University.
