Famous Faces at the Market
Even before the famous band Queen was formed, the market had a connection to music history. In 1969, Roger Taylor, who would become Queen's drummer, ran a stall there. He even asked Freddie Mercury, who would become Queen's lead singer, to help him work at the stall.
The Market's End
Kensington Market closed its doors for good on January 29, 2000. After it closed, the building was left empty and unused. It was finally torn down in 2001.
