Kerry E. Roberts is a Republican who serves in the Tennessee Senate. He represents the 23rd district. This area includes several counties like Robertson, Dickson, Cheatham, Humphreys, and Hickman. In January 2020, Roberts started hosting a morning radio show called "The Tennessee Star Report" in Nashville. In October 2021, he rode his bicycle 100 miles to help raise money for people affected by floods in Humphreys County.

About Kerry Roberts
Early Life and Education
Kerry Roberts was born in Bedford, Indiana. He finished high school in 1979. Later, he went to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a degree in Accounting in 1983.
Family Life
Roberts has been married to his wife, Dianne, since August 1987. They have three children. All of their children went to public schools. The Roberts family lives in Springfield, Tennessee. Kerry is a member of the Church of Christ. In October 2020, Roberts had a health issue but fully recovered.
Career Before Politics
After college, Roberts worked in accounting. In 1985, he started his own accounting business. He sold it in 1990.
In 1990, Roberts opened several bicycle stores. He also became the President and Chairman of the National Bicycle Dealers Association. He closed his stores because of losses from the 2010 Tennessee floods.
Roberts now owns a company called Resource Network LLC. This company helps other businesses find accounting, finance, and technology experts.

In the Senate, members work in groups called committees. These groups study different topics. Roberts has served on several committees. These include the Health, Government Operations, and Environment and Tourism committees. He was also the Secretary of the Health Committee.
In January 2019, he became the Chairman of the Senate Committee for Government Operations. He was also reappointed to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Important Laws He Helped Create
Roberts supported a law to create a "Katie Beckett waiver." This program helps families with children who have complex medical needs. It helps them get special insurance, no matter how much money they earn. Tennessee was the last state to start this program.
He also supported the "Fresh Start Act." This law helps people with past criminal convictions. It makes sure they are not denied professional licenses unless their past crime is directly related to the job.

2011 Election
Kerry Roberts first won the Republican Primary for Senate District 18 on January 20, 2011. He then won the main election on March 8, 2011.
2014 Election
Roberts announced he would run for re-election on May 15, 2013. He faced several other candidates in the Republican primary. These included Joshua Evans, Tony Gross, Jim Summerville, and Wayne White. Roberts won the primary election on August 7, 2014. He received 42.16 percent of the votes. In the general election on November 4, 2014, Roberts won against Tony Gross. He received 70.43 percent of the votes.
2018 Election
In 2018, Roberts ran for re-election again. He did not have any opponents in the Republican primary. On November 6, he won re-election with 11,392 votes. He defeated Wade Munday, a Democrat, who received 4,757 votes.
