Kevan Hall is an American fashion designer. He was born in 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. He is famous for designing beautiful dresses for celebrities to wear on the red carpet.

Kevan Hall also worked as the main designer for the famous fashion brand Halston from 1997 to 2000. In 2001, he started his own fashion company, Kevan Hall Signature. This company creates fancy evening gowns, stylish suits, accessories, and luxury home items. Many famous people have worn his designs, including Anne Hathaway, Naomi Campbell, Celine Dion, Michelle Obama, and Viola Davis. In 2018, he helped start the Black Design Collective, a group that supports Black designers.

Early Life and Learning

Kevan Hall was born in 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the youngest of three children. His brother is the actor and film director, Vondie Curtis-Hall.

When Kevan was only seven years old, he already knew he wanted to be a fashion designer.

He went to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. This is where he met his wife, Deborah.

Kevan Hall's Fashion Career

Kevan Hall began his fashion journey as an assistant designer. In 1983, he started his first company, Kevan Hall Couture. He sold his designs to fancy stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks.

In 1997, Kevan Hall was asked to help bring back the famous Halston brand. Halston was known for dressing icons like Jacqueline Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor. Kevan worked as the main designer for Halston from 1998 to 2000.

In 2002, he launched his own clothing line, the Kevan Hall Collection. This line featured stylish clothes that were ready to wear.

His designs have been worn by many Hollywood stars. These include Salma Hayek, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, and Michelle Obama.

Kevan Hall and his designs have appeared on many television shows. He was on Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane. On that show, he dressed Kimora Lee Simmons for the Vogue Met Gala.

He was also a guest judge on America’s Next Top Model. Contestants had to create outfits from his Spring 2009 collection. Adrienne Maloof from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills also featured his designs. She showed his collection during a fashion show for her new shoe line.

Kevan Hall has also appeared on shows like Inside Edition and E!'s Fashion Police. He shared his thoughts on the latest fashion trends.

In 2024, Kevan Hall opened a special pop-up shop in Cannes, France. This was during the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival. His Spring 2024 Collection was called Côte d'Azur. It was inspired by the French artist Sonia Delaunay.

Awards and Recognition

Kevan Hall has received many awards for his amazing work in fashion. After finishing school at FIDM, he won the Peacock Award for great fashion design.

In 1989, the NAACP named him the Great American Designer. In 2005, Life & Style Magazine called him the Stylemaker of the Year. He was also named the Designer of the Year at the 47th Annual Gold Coast Fashion Awards in 2002.
