Kevin James Borg (born June 9, 1986) is a Maltese pop singer who became famous in Sweden. He is best known for winning the fifth season of the Swedish TV singing show Idol in 2008.
Kevin was the first winner of the show who was not born in Sweden. He had moved to the country just one year before his big win.

Early Life and Move to Sweden
Kevin Borg was born and grew up in Floriana, a town in Malta. Before he became a singer, he was a talented football player for the team Floriana FC. Sports run in his family. His grandfather, Lolly Debattista, was a famous Maltese football player.
In 2007, Kevin decided to move to Arvidsjaur, Sweden, to be with his girlfriend. This move would change his life and start his music career.
Winning Swedish Idol
The Journey to the Top
In 2008, Kevin decided to try out for the popular Swedish singing competition, Idol. He impressed the judges and made it into the top 12 contestants who performed on live television.
At the beginning of the live shows, Kevin wasn't seen as one of the top contenders. But each week, his powerful performances won over more and more fans. He became very popular with the viewers at home.
He made it all the way to the grand finale, which was held at the Globen Arena in Stockholm. He performed in front of a huge crowd of 16,000 people. On December 12, 2008, Kevin Borg was announced as the winner of Swedish Idol, beating the other finalist, Alice Svensson. A fun fact is that during the entire competition, he was never in the bottom three, meaning he was always a fan favorite.

Music Career After Idol
Winning Idol was just the start for Kevin. He immediately signed a record deal with Sony BMG, a major music company.
Debut Album and Singles
Just a week after winning, he released his first single, "With Every Bit of Me". The song was a huge success in Sweden. It went straight to number one on the music charts and stayed there for two weeks.
On March 4, 2009, Kevin released his first album, called The Beginning. It was very popular, reaching number 3 on the Swedish album charts. The album sold so many copies that it was certified "Gold." He also released another single from the album called "Street Lights," which was also a top 10 hit.
Writing Songs for Other Artists
Besides singing, Kevin is also a talented songwriter. He has written songs for famous artists around the world.
- He co-wrote the song "Mental Breaker" for the South Korean K-Pop group, Block B.
- In 2017, he co-wrote the song "Tsunagu" for the popular Japanese boyband Arashi. The song was a massive hit in Japan, reaching number one on the charts.
Return to Malta and Eurovision
Kevin has always been proud of his home country, Malta. He has tried to represent Malta in the famous Eurovision Song Contest, a huge music competition with countries from all over Europe.
- In 2013, he competed in the Maltese selection show with his song "Needing You". He came very close, finishing in second place.
- In 2017, he tried again with the song "Follow" and finished in third place.
In 2016, Kevin also showed his acting skills. He played the main role of Danny Zuko in a stage production of the musical Grease in Gozo, Malta.
