About Kevin Mambo's Early Life
Kevin Mambo was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. From a young age, Kevin loved music.
He sang in the church choir as a child. He started playing the piano when he was 8 years old. By age 10, he was playing the saxophone, and at 19, he picked up the guitar.
Kevin went to Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon. Later, he attended Brentwood College School in Mill Bay, British Columbia. He studied Political Science and African History at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He also took jazz classes there.
He then moved to the University of Southern California. There, he earned his degree in Fine Arts.
Kevin Mambo's Acting Career
Kevin Mambo has had a busy career in acting. In 2015, he acted in a play called Brothers from the Bottom. He performed alongside Wendell Pierce at the Billie Holiday Theatre.
In 2014, Kevin starred in the musical The Fortress of Solitude. This show was first performed in Dallas and then in New York. The musical is based on a book by Jonathan Lethem.
Kevin also appeared in The Book of Mormon from 2012 to 2013. He played the character Mafala during the first national tour. He was also in the play The Convert in 2011–2012.
He played the main role of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti in the Broadway musical Fela!. This show was performed at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Kevin has also acted in many Off-Broadway plays. These include Ruined and Hoodoo Love.
