Where is Keystone Located?

Keystone is found on the central part of Whidbey Island. It is about four miles south of a town called Coupeville. Keystone is also very close to some interesting places. These include Fort Casey State Park, Camp Casey, and Ebey's Prairie National Historic Preserve. This area is known for its beautiful natural scenery and historical sites.

The Keystone Ferry Service

The ferry dock at Keystone Harbor is a very important part of the community. It is where the Washington State Ferries' boat leaves for Port Townsend. This ferry route helps connect State Route 20 across the water. It makes it easier for people and cars to travel between Whidbey Island and the Olympic Peninsula.

The ferry route has been running since the 1930s. For a long time, it was called the Keystone-Port Townsend Ferry. However, in 2010, its name was changed. The local Chamber of Commerce suggested the change. They wanted to avoid confusing tourists and visitors coming to Whidbey Island.

Life in Keystone

Keystone is a quiet area with homes and farms. One notable historic building is the Crockett Barn. It stands next to the Crockett Blockhouse and Crockett Lake. These places show some of the history of the area. Currently, there is only one business in Keystone. It is Callen's Restaurant, located right across from the ferry landing.
