Kidder is a small city in northwest Caldwell County, Missouri. In 2020, about 267 people lived there.

The city was started in 1860 by H.B. Kidder. His company wanted to help people from Europe settle in the area. They especially wanted people who did not own slaves. Kidder was located along the Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad. This railroad was the furthest west in the United States at that time.

Kidder also has a history of education. An old school building in the community has changed names many times. It was once Thayer College, founded in 1871. Later, it became the Kidder Institute in 1877. This institute was run by the Congregational Church of Missouri. From 1934 to 1981, the building was used as a public school. In 2009, the campus became the White Buffalo Academy.
