Kieron Adrian Pollard (born May 12, 1987) is a famous cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago. He is known for being a powerful all-rounder, which means he is great at both batting and bowling. For many years, he was a star player for the West Indies cricket team and even became their captain in shorter forms of the game like ODIs and T20Is.
Pollard is one of the most exciting batsmen in cricket history. He is one of only three players to hit six sixes in a single over in an international match. He achieved this amazing feat against Sri Lanka in 2021. After a long and successful career playing for teams all over the world, he is now the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and an assistant coach for the England cricket team.

Early Life and Career
Kieron Pollard was born in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago. He grew up in a poor home with his single mother and two younger sisters. Even though life was tough, he discovered his talent for cricket.
He first played for the West Indies Under-19 team in 2005. His powerful hitting quickly got him noticed. In 2006, he made his debut for the senior Trinidad and Tobago team in a Twenty20 tournament. In one game, he smashed 83 runs from just 38 balls, showing everyone how destructive he could be.
Soon after, he made his first-class cricket debut and scored a century (100 runs) in his very first match. His amazing performances earned him a spot in the West Indies squad for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
International Career
Pollard played for the West Indies from 2007 to 2022. He was especially good in the shorter, faster versions of cricket, like T20s and ODIs. He was a key part of the team that won the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
In September 2019, he was named the captain of the West Indies ODI and T20I teams. He was a strong leader and a very experienced player. In March 2020, he became the first cricketer ever to play in 500 T20 matches, a huge milestone.
On April 20, 2022, Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a fantastic career playing for his country.
Hitting Six Sixes
One of Pollard's most famous moments came in March 2021. In a T20 match against Sri Lanka, he hit every single ball of an over for a six. The bowler was Akila Dananjaya. This made him only the third player in history to do this in international cricket, after Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
Pollard became a superstar in the Indian Premier League (IPL), one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world. He played for the Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2022 and was a huge fan favorite.
Joining the Mumbai Indians
After amazing performances in other leagues, many IPL teams wanted to sign Pollard in 2010. The Mumbai Indians won the bid and signed him. He quickly became one of their most important players. He was known for his explosive batting at the end of an innings, his clever bowling, and his incredible fielding.
Winning Championships
With Pollard on the team, the Mumbai Indians became the most successful team in IPL history. He helped them win the IPL title five times: in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
- 2013 Final: In the final against the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai was in trouble. Pollard came in and scored 60 runs from just 32 balls, helping his team win their very first IPL trophy.
- Match-Winning Innings: Pollard was famous for winning games that seemed impossible. In 2019, against Kings XI Punjab, he scored 83 runs from only 31 balls to lead Mumbai to a thrilling victory.
Retirement and Coaching
On November 15, 2022, after 13 seasons with the Mumbai Indians, Pollard announced his retirement from the IPL. He didn't want to play against the team he loved. The team immediately appointed him as their batting coach, so he could continue to share his knowledge with the younger players.
Other Cricket Leagues
Besides the IPL, Pollard was a global T20 star. He played in many different franchise leagues around the world, including:
- Caribbean Premier League (CPL): He has played for and captained the Trinbago Knight Riders, his home team.
- Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia: He played for the Adelaide Strikers and the South Australian Redbacks.
- Pakistan Super League (PSL): He played for several teams, including the Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.
- The Hundred in England: He played for teams like Welsh Fire and London Spirit.
His ability to travel and succeed in different conditions made him one of the most valuable T20 players of all time.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player from the IPL, Pollard moved into coaching. In November 2022, he became the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians.
In December 2023, he was also named the assistant coach for the England cricket team for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. This showed how respected his knowledge of T20 cricket is around the world.
