Kim Tae-hee (Hangul: 김태희; born on March 29, 1980) is a famous actress from South Korea. Many people think she is one of the most beautiful actresses in the country.
She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows. These include Stairway to Heaven (2003–2004), Love Story in Harvard (2004–2005), and Iris (2009). She also starred in My Princess (2011), Yong-pal (2015), and Hi Bye, Mama! (2020).
Kim Tae-hee is part of a special group called "The Troika." This group also includes actresses Song Hye-kyo and Jun Ji-hyun. Together, they are known by the short name "Tae-Hye-Ji."

Early Life and School
Kim Tae-hee was born on March 29, 1980, in Ulsan, South Korea. Her father, Kim Yoo-moon, started a transportation company in 1984. Kim Tae-hee often helps with charities in Ulsan. These charities support young people and families who need help.
She has an older sister, Kim Hee-won, and a younger brother, Kim Hyung-soo. Her brother is also an actor and uses the stage name Lee Wan. Kim Tae-hee went to Samshin Elementary School and Daehyun Middle School. She then attended Ulsan Girls' High School.
In 1999, Kim moved to Seoul to go to Seoul National University. This is a very famous university. While there, she was the president of the SNU Women's Ski Club. In 2005, she earned a degree in fashion design from the university.
Her Acting Career
Starting Out (2001–2002)
In 2000, someone working in advertising saw Kim on the subway. They offered her a job as a model. Kim appeared in many TV commercials and print ads.
She started acting with a small part in the 2001 movie Last Present. In 2002, she was in a short film called Living in New Town and a TV show called Let's Go. She also appeared in Screen and A Problem at My Younger Brother's House in 2003.
Becoming Famous (2003–2006)
Kim became very popular in 2003. This was because of her role as the mean stepsister in the TV show Stairway to Heaven. After this, she started getting main roles in her projects.
In 2004, she starred in the fantasy series Forbidden Love. She also played a lead role in the college romance show Love Story in Harvard. This show was very popular across South Korea. It reached a high viewership of 20 percent. Kim won an award for Most Popular Actress for her role in Love Story in Harvard. The show also helped her become well-known in Japan.
Because of the success of Stairway to Heaven and Love Story in Harvard, Kim became a top choice for TV commercials. In 2008, she was named the best advertising model of the year. People even called her the "CF Queen" (CF stands for Commercial Film). However, Kim wanted to be known more for her acting skills than just her looks.
She then tried acting in movies. She was in the action fantasy film The Restless (2006) and the romantic comedy Venus and Mars (2007).
Iris and International Success (2009–2014)
Kim returned to TV in 2009 with the spy thriller Iris. She played an NIS agent who studies criminal behavior. Iris was one of the most expensive Korean dramas ever made. It was very successful, with about 30% of viewers watching it. Kim won her first acting award (not counting newcomer or popularity awards) for her role in Iris.
In 2010, Kim changed her acting agency. She also played a horse jockey in the sports film Grand Prix.
After Iris, she received good reviews for the romantic comedy My Princess (2011). In this show, Kim played an ordinary college student who finds out she is Korean royalty. Later that year, she starred in her first Japanese television drama called Boku to Star no 99 Nichi. In this show, she played a famous Korean star who falls in love with a Japanese bodyguard. This show made Kim very well-known in Japan.
In 2013, Kim starred in her first historical drama Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love. She played the famous royal concubine Hui-bin Jang. After this, she played another historical role as the wife of a famous Chinese writer, Wang Xizhi, in a Chinese television drama.
Recent Work (2015–Present)
Kim returned to Korean TV in 2015. She played a rich woman who wakes up from a coma with the help of a doctor in Yong-pal. This show was very popular. Kim won a Top Excellence Acting award for her role.
In 2020, Kim came back to TV in the family drama series Hi Bye, Mama!.
Other Activities
Helping Others
In May 2022, Kim donated 200 million won (Korean money) to help people affected by a big forest fire. The fire happened in Uljin and spread to Samcheok, South Korea.
On July 22, 2022, Kim also donated 1.1 million KF94 masks and face masks to a charity group called G-Foundation.
Personal Life
In September 2012, Kim started dating the South Korean singer and actor Rain. They got married on January 19, 2017.
On May 23, 2017, Kim's agency announced that she was going to have her first child. She gave birth to a daughter on October 25, 2017. In February 2019, Kim announced she was pregnant again. On September 19, 2019, she gave birth to their second daughter.
Kim is a Catholic. Her baptismal name is Verda. In 2014, she was one of 30 Catholic celebrities who appeared in a music video. This video was made to celebrate Pope Francis's visit to South Korea. It was the first time in 19 years that a Pope had visited South Korea.
