Kingdom Hearts II is a fun video game made for the PlayStation 2 console. It's part of the popular Kingdom Hearts series. This game brings together characters from Final Fantasy and many beloved Walt Disney characters, like Donald Duck, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse.

The story of Kingdom Hearts II starts one year after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. It continues the big adventure from the first Kingdom Hearts game and Chain of Memories. The game was first released in Japan on December 22, 2005. It came out in North America on March 28, 2006, and in Europe on September 29, 2006.

In Kingdom Hearts II, you play as a 15-year-old boy named Sora. Sora travels through many different worlds. These worlds are based on famous Disney movies! In each world, you fight various enemies. These include creatures called Heartless and Nobodies. Sometimes, you also fight special enemies that fit the world you are in. For example, you might battle cursed pirates in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Story Begins

You start the game playing as Roxas. He is a 15-year-old boy enjoying his summer vacation in Twilight Town. He spends time with his three best friends: Hayner, Pence, and Olette. As the week goes on, strange things start to happen around Roxas.

A man named Axel, who is part of a group called Organization XIII, seems upset with Roxas. Axel says Roxas doesn't remember him. They fight, and Roxas finds out he can use a special weapon called a Keyblade. Roxas also meets Naminé and a man named DiZ. Naminé tells Roxas she is changing his memories. She wants him to become "whole" again. Axel tells Roxas they used to be friends. He says he must either bring Roxas back to his group or destroy him. After another battle, Axel disappears. Roxas then finds Sora and disappears himself.

Sora's Journey

After Roxas disappears, Sora wakes up. You then play as Sora. His friends, Donald and Goofy, also wake up. The three of them continue their important mission: to find their friend Riku. As they search, they meet more members of Organization XIII. They learn that these members are beings called Nobodies.

When a Heartless steals someone's heart, that person also becomes a Heartless. But if their heart is very strong, their body can become a Nobody. Nobodies do not have emotions. However, they want to get their hearts back. Xemnas, who leads Organization XIII, is trying to gather Kingdom Hearts. He believes this will give the Nobodies their hearts back.

To summon Kingdom Hearts, many Heartless must be defeated. When a Keyblade defeats a Heartless, the hearts they hold are released. These hearts then return to Kingdom Hearts. This is why Organization XIII wanted Sora to join them. It is later revealed that Roxas is Sora's Nobody. Roxas was created when Sora briefly lost his heart. Naminé is Kairi's Nobody. She was created when Kairi lost her heart at the start of the first Kingdom Hearts game. Xemnas is the Nobody of a man named Xehanort. Ansem, the main bad guy from the first game, was Xehanort's Heartless. After a big battle, Sora and his friends defeat Xemnas. They then return home safely.

Final Mix + Version

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix + is a special version of the game. It was released only in Japan on March 29, 2007. This version has more content than the original Kingdom Hearts II. It includes new areas to explore, new battles to fight, and a new secret ending. It is also for the PlayStation 2.
