Kinsley's Past: A Look at History

Kinsley is known for an event that happened on August 15, 1905. This event is called the Kinsley evictions. During a strike at Hemsworth Colliery (a coal mine), 25 families were asked to leave their homes by the police.

These families temporarily lost their homes. They eventually set up a camp at a farm called Outwood Hall in Outwood, West Yorkshire. This event shows how difficult life could be for mining families during strikes.
