Kirklin is a small town in Clinton County, Indiana, United States. It is located within Kirklin Township. In 2010, about 788 people lived there. The town gets its name from Nathan Kirk, who was an early settler in the area.

History of Kirklin
How Kirklin Started
Nathan Kirk was the first white settler in the eastern part of Clinton County. He planned out the town of Kirklin in the early 1830s. The original town plan, called a plat, had seven blocks on each side of the Michigan Road. This road is now known as Main Street.
On October 24, 1836, more blocks were added to the town. These new areas were to the east, west, and south of the first plan.
Early Businesses and Growth
Many businesses opened in Kirklin during its early days:
- Edward Miller opened the first general store in a log building.
- William Wynkoop built the first hotel.
- Hiram Dougherty had a cabinet shop.
- James Hollcraft ran a bar.
- John Heffner was a blacksmith.
- Columbus Kemp had a tannery, which processed animal hides.
- M. Z. Saylor was a doctor.
Becoming an Official Town
In 1876, 224 people living in Kirklin signed a paper asking for the town to become officially recognized, or incorporated. An election was held on April 1, 1876. Everyone voted to approve the idea. On June 8, 1876, the county leaders officially declared Kirklin an incorporated town.
Kirklin in the 1900s
In the early 1900s, Kirklin was a lively place. The town held fun events like horse shows and street fairs. These events took place along Main Street, which was paved with bricks. Kirklin was also sometimes called Kirk's Cross Roads.
The Kirklin Public Library is an important building in the town. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. This means it is a special place recognized for its history.
