Kisho Yano (矢野 貴章, Yano Kishō, born 5 April 1984) is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a forward or right-back for Tochigi SC.

Kisho Yano's Football Journey

Kisho Yano was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. He started playing football at a young age. In 2002, while still in high school, he was chosen as a "Designated Player for Development." This special status allowed him to train with a professional team, Júbilo Iwata, even though he was still playing for his high school team. However, he did not play in any official games for Júbilo Iwata at that time.

Starting His Club Career

After finishing high school, Yano joined Kashiwa Reysol, a team in Japan's top football league, the J1 League. He often came on as a substitute player. In 2005, his team, Kashiwa Reysol, was moved down to the second division, the J2 League.

Playing for Albirex Niigata

In 2006, Yano moved to Albirex Niigata. He quickly became a key player for the team as a forward. A forward's main job is to score goals. In 2009, his role changed a bit. He started playing as a right winger, which is a player who plays on the right side of the field and helps with attacks.

Time in Europe

In August 2010, Kisho Yano got a chance to play in Europe. He joined SC Freiburg, a club in Germany's top league, the Bundesliga. After playing for a couple of years in Europe, he returned to Japan in February 2012 and rejoined Albirex Niigata. He started as a regular player but later played more often as a substitute.

Moving to Nagoya Grampus

In 2013, Yano moved to Nagoya Grampus. He played as a center forward when another player was injured. Later, he often came into games as a substitute. In 2014, his position changed again. The new manager, Akira Nishino, asked him to play as a right-back. A right-back is a defender who plays on the right side of the field. Yano became a regular player in this new position. In 2016, Nagoya Grampus was also moved down to the J2 League.

Returning to Albirex Niigata (Again!)

In 2017, Yano went back to Albirex Niigata for the third time. He continued to play as a right-back. Unfortunately, Albirex Niigata was also moved down to the J2 League at the end of the 2017 season. In 2018, a new manager, Masakazu Suzuki, changed Yano's position back to his original role as a forward.

Playing for Tochigi SC

Since 2020, Kisho Yano has been playing for Tochigi SC. He continues to play as a forward for this team.

Kisho Yano's International Career

Kisho Yano also played for Japan's national football teams at different age levels.

Playing for Japan's Youth Teams

He was part of the Japan U-17 team that played in the 2001 U-17 World Championship. He even scored one goal in that tournament!

Playing for the Senior Japan Team

Yano played his first game for the main Japan national team on March 24, 2007. It was a friendly match against Peru, and he came on as a substitute. He was also part of the Japan team that played in the 2007 Asian Cup.

Yano scored his first goal for Japan on September 11, 2007. It was a winning goal in a friendly game against Switzerland. In May 2010, he was chosen to play for Japan in the 2010 World Cup. He played in one game at the World Cup, coming on as a substitute against Cameroon. This was his last game for the Japan national team, having played 19 matches in total.
