Chan Kit Yee (born 15 September 1972), known as Kit Chan, is a famous singer and actress from Singapore. She has been performing since 1993 and is known for her beautiful voice and acting skills.

Early Life and School Days
Kit Chan was born in Singapore on September 15, 1972. She is the third of four daughters in her family.
She went to several schools, including Fairfield Methodist School, Raffles Girls' School, Raffles Junior College, and Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts. Later, from 2004 to 2010, Kit took a break from music. During this time, she went back to LaSalle College as an older student. She studied the psychology of performing and graduated with top honors.
Kit Chan's Amazing Career
Since she started in 1993, Kit Chan has done many things. She has been a singer, acted in plays and TV shows, written poems and songs, and even started her own businesses.
Singing and Albums
In 1994, Kit released her first album in Taiwan called Heartache. After that, she released more popular albums like Liking You and Dazzling. She performed all over Asia, the United States, Korea, and New Zealand. She also sang with big orchestras in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
One of her most famous songs is Home. She sang it at the 1998 Singapore National Day Parade, and it became very popular. She has sung it many times at the parade since then.
Taking a Break and Returning
In 2004, Kit took a break from performing to focus on her studies. She also worked for a public relations company for about 19 months. She even helped with a campaign for Singapore's Ministry of Defence.
After her break, Kit returned to the stage. In 2009, she sang the theme song One World for a big event called APEC. She also returned to musicals.
Acting and Musicals
Kit Chan has starred in many musicals. She played a lead role in the Hong Kong musical Snow.Wolf.Lake with Jacky Cheung in both Cantonese and Mandarin versions. She also played the young Empress Dowager Cixi in Forbidden City: Portrait of An Empress. This musical was first performed in 2002.
She also acted in TV dramas like Healing Hands II and Cash is King. In 2010, she appeared in the film Lover's Discourse.
Recent Projects
In 2011, Kit released her first new studio album since 2004, called Re-interpreting Kit Chan. She also held several solo concerts. She even helped create a music video for her famous song Home, featuring 39 local artists.
In 2014, Kit starred in her first main film role in Miss J Contemplates Her Choice. She also took part in a singing contest in China called I Am A Singer. In 2015, she announced that she would no longer perform at the National Day Parades.
In 2016, she released an album of new songs called The Edge of Paradise. She also finished her "Spellbound" concert tour with a big show for 7,000 people. In 2018, she celebrated 25 years as a singer with a special album and concerts.
More recently, in 2022, Kit Chan performed in The LKY Musical. She played the role of Madam Kwa Geok Choo, who was the wife of Singapore’s first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
Helping the Community
Kit Chan has also been involved in helping her community. In 1998, she became the first National Youth Ambassador for Singapore's National Youth Council. She held this role for two years. From 2001 to 2005, she was a member of the National Youth Council.
In 2002, she received an award for her excellent work with young people. She also served on the board of the National Heritage Board for two years, helping to connect with people and creative industries. Kit is also an ambassador for "World Vision," a Christian organization that helps people in need.
Business Ventures
Kit Chan has also explored the world of business. She invested in two clothing shops in Singapore called Flowers in the Attic and Roses in the Loft.
In 2010, she started her own music company, which she named Banshee Empire. This was the name of her singing group when she was in secondary school.
Personal Life
Kit Chan had a wedding dinner in 2012 with her long-time partner. However, she later clarified in an interview that she was never legally married. This means she was also never legally divorced.
