Knivsta Municipality (Knivsta kommun) is a cool place in Sweden! It's a type of local government area, like a county or a district, located in Uppsala County. This county is in east central Sweden. The main town, called Knivsta, is where the local government is based. About 7,100 people live there.

Knivsta has an interesting history! For a long time, until 1971, it was part of Stockholm County. Then, it joined a bigger area called Uppsala Municipality. After that, it became part of Uppsala County. But guess what? On January 1, 2003, Knivsta became its own separate municipality again! It's still in Uppsala County today.
