Knivsta is a town in Sweden. It is located in Uppsala County. Knivsta is also the main town of Knivsta Municipality. As of February 2023, about 20,133 people live there.

Where is Knivsta?
Knivsta is located on the railway line between Stockholm and Uppsala. It is about 48 kilometers (30 miles) north of Stockholm. It is also 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of Uppsala. The town has its own train station right in the center.
A Look at Knivsta's Past
Knivsta used to have a big timber industry. There was once a large sawmill here. Today, there are plans to build new apartments and businesses where the sawmill used to be.
Knivsta has a small town center. You can find a library there. There are also banks and many different shops. If you get hungry, you can visit one of the restaurants or cafés. The Knivsta railway station is also in the center.
Nearby, you can find a sports center and a swimming hall. Many people are moving to Knivsta. They often settle in the nearby town of Alsike. A lot of residents travel to work in Uppsala, Stockholm, or Arlanda airport.
Knivsta's old church is called Saint Stephen's Church. It was built a very long time ago, in the 14th century. You can find it just south of the town center.
Famous People from Knivsta
Many well-known people have lived in Knivsta.
- Carl Milles was a famous artist. He was born near Knivsta. His statue at Lagga church shows angels playing.
- Emil Sjögren was a composer.
- Olof Thunman was another artist. Knivsta's biggest school is named after him. He created works like Vi gå över daggstänkta berg.
- Gösta "Knivsta" Sandberg was a great sportsman. He played for the Swedish national team. He was good at bandy, football, and ice hockey in the 1950s and 1960s.
- Many ice hockey players from Knivsta IK have become successful. They play both in Sweden and in other countries.
- Former child actress Julia Winter also lived here.
- Famous comedian Soran Ismail is from Knivsta too.
Sports and Activities
Knivsta is a very active town when it comes to sports. There are many sports clubs here. Some of them include Knivsta IK, SK Vide, Lagga IF, Vassunda IF, and Långhundra IF.
These clubs offer many different sports. You can play handball, football, table tennis, skiing, and bandy. There are also many other organized sports in Knivsta. These include riding, judo, shooting, cycling, and swimming.
