Korey Williams, born on July 11, 1987, is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver, which means he was a player who catches passes. Early Life and College Football
Korey Williams was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 11, 1987. He went to Alfred Lawless High School in New Orleans. While in high school, he played many sports. These included football, baseball, basketball, and track.
Williams first attended the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2005. He also went to Paul Quinn College in 2006. However, he did not play football at either of these schools. From 2007 to 2010, he was a member of the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers football team. This team is part of Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
In 2011, Williams was part of the United States men's national American football team. They played in the 2011 IFAF World Championship. The U.S. team won this big tournament.
Professional Football Career
Williams began his professional career in the Indoor Football League (IFL). He started the 2012 season with the Omaha Beef team. After a short time, he was released from that team.
Playing for the Sioux Falls Storm
Williams then signed with the Sioux Falls Storm, another IFL team. In 2012, he had a great season with the Storm. He gained 1,329 all-purpose yards and scored 18 touchdowns in just 10 games. He planned to play for the Storm again in 2013. However, in February 2013, he decided to join a team in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Time in the Canadian Football League
Williams signed with the BC Lions on May 13, 2013. During the 2013 season, he played in four games, starting two of them. He caught seven passes for 112 yards and scored one touchdown. He also ran the ball once for 41 yards. Williams returned 15 punts for 56 yards and six kickoffs for 64 yards.
In 2014, he played in two games for the Lions, starting both. He caught four passes for 68 yards and ran the ball three times for 13 yards. The Lions released him on July 15, 2014.
Williams then signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL on July 29, 2014. He played in four games for them in 2014, starting all of them. He caught ten passes for 142 yards and scored one touchdown. He also had one rush for an 18-yard touchdown. In the 2015 season, he played in four games, starting two. He caught seven passes for 112 yards. The Roughriders released him on September 9, 2015.
Return to the Sioux Falls Storm
On November 3, 2015, Williams went back to play for the Sioux Falls Storm. He helped the Storm win the 2016 United Bowl, which is a championship game. After the 2016 season, Williams was recognized for his excellent play. He was named first-team All-IFL as a kick returner. He also received the award for IFL Special Teams Player of the Year. He continued to play for the Storm in 2017.
