Kory Gerren Sheets (born March 31, 1985) is a former professional football running back from America. He played college football at Purdue University. Kory was signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 2009. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and Oakland Raiders in the NFL. Later, he joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Early Life and High School Football
Kory Sheets grew up in Bloomfield, Connecticut. He played football for Bloomfield High School. Kory helped his team win a state championship. In his final year, he ran for 2,588 yards. He also scored 41 touchdowns. This amazing performance earned him the state Player of the Year award. He was also named to the All-State team.
Sheets was also a talented athlete in track and field. He earned All-State and All-American honors. Experts ranked him as one of the top all-purpose backs in the country.
College Football Career at Purdue
Kory Sheets attended Purdue University. He played football for the Purdue Boilermakers. He studied Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Kory had a fantastic career at Purdue. He was a starter for three seasons, from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, he was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten player. He also played in the Senior Bowl after his senior season.
Kory holds several records at Purdue. He is number one in career touchdowns with 54. He also has the most rushing touchdowns with 48. This puts him ahead of famous NFL players like Mike Alstott. He is second in career scoring with 324 points. Kory is also the second-best career rusher for the Boilermakers. He gained 3,341 rushing yards. He is also second in career "All-Purpose Yardage."
Sheets ran for over 100 yards in 9 games during his college career. He scored 4 touchdowns in a single game twice. Once against Michigan in 2008 and once against Miami (OH) in 2006. Professional Football Journey
Starting with the San Francisco 49ers
After college, Kory Sheets was not chosen in the 2009 NFL draft. However, the San Francisco 49ers signed him as a free agent. He didn't make the main team roster at first. But he was later signed to their practice squad.
Time with the Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins signed Kory Sheets in October 2009. He played one game with the Dolphins. He had one rush for 5 yards. In August 2010, he got injured during practice. He hurt his right Achilles tendon. This injury ended his season. The Dolphins later released him in August 2011.
Brief Stint with the Carolina Panthers
On November 30, 2011, Sheets joined the Carolina Panthers. He was signed to their practice squad.
Success in the Canadian Football League
Kory Sheets moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2012. He signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 10, 2012. He quickly became the starting running back. In his first game, he rushed for 80 yards and scored a touchdown. He helped the Roughriders start the season with a 3–0 record. Sheets scored a touchdown in each of those first three games.
In the 2012 season, Kory became one of the top rushers in the CFL. He finished second in the league in rushing yards.
The 2013 CFL season was even better for Kory. He started with his best performances ever. He rushed for 131 yards in the first game. Then 133 yards the next week. The week after, he gained 178 rushing yards. This helped the Riders start 3–0 again. Kory set a CFL record for most rushing yards in the first three games of a season. He had 442 yards. He continued his amazing streak, running for over 100 yards in six straight games. This was another record.
Sheets finished the 2013 season with 1,598 rushing yards. He had nine games where he rushed for over 100 yards. This tied a team record for the Roughriders.
The biggest moment came on November 24, 2013. In the 101st Grey Cup championship game, Kory set a new CFL record. He rushed for 197 yards and scored two touchdowns. This incredible performance earned him the Grey Cup Most Valuable Player award. His record broke the old one set in 1956.
Return to the NFL with the Oakland Raiders
On February 12, 2014, Kory Sheets signed with the Oakland Raiders. This marked his return to the National Football League. However, the Raiders released him in August 2014.
After his time with the Raiders, Sheets had a workout with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL in early 2016.
