When plans for the North South Line were first made in 1990, Kranji station wasn't part of them. But later, it was decided that a station here would be very useful.

So, Kranji station was built! It opened on February 10, 1996. One main reason for building it was to help people get to the Singapore Turf Club. This is a popular place for horse racing and other events.
