Kristiani Herrawati Yudhoyono (born 6 July 1952 – died 1 June 2019), known to many as Ani Yudhoyono, was an Indonesian leader. She was the wife of former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. She served as the First Lady of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014.

About Ani Yudhoyono
Early Life and Education
Kristiani Herrawati was born on 6 July 1952 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Her father was Lt. Gen. (ret.) Sarwo Edhie Wibowo, a respected military leader. She was the third of seven children in her family.
In 1973, she began studying medicine at the Christian University of Indonesia. However, she later moved with her father when he became an ambassador to South Korea. In 1976, she married Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who later became president. Ani continued her studies at Terbuka University. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1998.
Her Role in Politics
Ani Yudhoyono was very active in politics. She became the vice chairman of the Democratic Party. She played a big part in her husband's successful election as President of Indonesia in 2004. Before this, she was involved in many women's groups. She worked with these groups when her husband was a minister under previous presidents.
As First Lady, she started important programs. She helped organize polio vaccination campaigns for children. She also launched "Mobil Pintar" (Smart Cars). These were vans filled with books that traveled to different places for children to read.
A Butterfly Named After Her
In 2007, a special Papuan butterfly species was named after her. It was called Delias kristianiae. She was given a sample of this beautiful butterfly. She then donated it to a museum so others could see it.
Her Hobbies and Interests
Gardening and Orchids
Ani Yudhoyono loved gardening, especially orchids. It is a tradition for orchid varieties in Singapore to be named after important visitors. An orchid variety there was named after her. On her 61st birthday, she released two books. These books featured her photographs of plants from the Cipanas Palace and other Indonesian Botanical Gardens.
Photography Enthusiast
She was also a very keen photographer. She often shared her photos on her Instagram account. By the time she passed away in 2019, she had more than 6.4 million followers.
Her Passing
Ani Yudhoyono passed away on 1 June 2019. She was 66 years old. She had been receiving treatment for leukemia for almost four months at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
Her body was flown back to Indonesia on the same evening. Funeral prayers were held at her home in Cikeas, West Java. The next day, she was buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.
