Kristin Elizabeth Cavallari (born January 5, 1987) is an American television star, fashion designer, and author. She became famous in 2004 when she appeared on the popular MTV reality TV show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Later, she starred in its spin-off, The Hills, and then had her own E! reality series called Very Cavallari. Kristin has also acted in TV shows and movies, like National Lampoon's Van Wilder: Freshman Year. In 2017, she started her own company, Uncommon James, which sells jewelry, home goods, and beauty products.

Early Life
Kristin Elizabeth Cavallari was born in Denver, Colorado. Her parents are Judith Eifrig and Dennis Cavallari. She has an older brother, Michael Cavallari, who sadly passed away in 2015. Kristin's family background includes Italian heritage from her father and German heritage from her mother.
After her parents separated, Kristin moved with her mother from Denver to Barrington, Illinois, near Chicago. She lived there until her first year of high school. Then, she moved to Laguna Beach, California, to live with her father and brother. She finished high school at Laguna Beach High School in 2005. After high school, she briefly attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles but left to focus on her acting career.

Reality TV Star
Kristin was in her junior year of high school when the first season of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County began filming. On the show, she had an on-and-off relationship with high school senior Stephen Colletti. This relationship sometimes caused drama with another cast member, Lauren Conrad, which was shown on the series.
After Laguna Beach, Kristin moved to Los Angeles. She appeared on a show called Get This Party Started, which didn't last long. In 2009, Kristin joined the cast of Laguna Beach's spin-off show, The Hills. She first appeared at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's wedding. For the second half of the fifth season, Kristin became a main cast member and the show's narrator. The show's final season ended in July 2010.
Kristin later appeared as a guest on different reality competition shows. She was also a contestant on the 13th season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, where she danced with professional partner Mark Ballas. In 2012, Kristin started giving commentary for the Academy Awards on E!. In 2014, she co-hosted a fashion and lifestyle show called The Fabulist. She also helped judge the Miss Universe 2014 pageant.
In April 2018, E! announced a new reality show starring Kristin, Very Cavallari. It started in July and showed her opening the main store for her company, Uncommon James. In May 2020, after three seasons, Kristin announced that she was ending her show.
In 2021, Kristin made two guest appearances on the second season of The Hills' sequel, The Hills: New Beginnings. In 2022, Kristin started a podcast with her former Laguna Beach co-star Stephen Colletti. It's called Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen. The podcast looks back at their old show, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and featuring special guests. In 2023, she launched another podcast, Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari, which focuses on relationship advice.
Acting Roles
Kristin appeared in one episode of another UPN series, Veronica Mars. She also had guest roles on shows like CSI: NY, The Middle, and Adventures in Hollyhood. In 2006, she played Crystal in the horror film Fingerprints.
In 2008, she had a supporting role as Summer in Spring Breakdown, which was released straight to DVD. She also starred as Lana in the independent film Green Flash. In 2009, she played Trish in the high school comedy film Wild Cherry and Kaitlin in the direct-to-DVD movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder: Freshman Year. She also made acting appearances with Jay Cutler and by herself on the American sitcom The League in 2012 and 2013.
Fashion & Business
In 2010, Kristin became an ambassador for the children's charity OneKid OneWorld. She traveled to El Salvador to help rebuild schools. After another trip to Kenya the next year, Kristin started designing fashion. She worked with the company ShoeDazzle to create a spring shoe, and the money raised helped the charity.
In 2012, Kristin designed her first shoe line for the company Chinese Laundry. She launched her first jewelry collection in 2013 with GLAMboutique. In 2014, she co-founded a jewelry line called Emerald Duv with her friend Chelsea Bulte. She left that brand in 2016 to start her own jewelry line the following year.
She founded her jewelry business, Uncommon James, in 2017. This company later grew to sell home and beauty products. She then started a children's clothing line, Little James, in 2019. In July 2021, she launched a comfortable athletic wear collection with Feat Clothing.
Author & Cookbooks
Kristin wrote her first book, a lifestyle autobiography called Balancing in Heels, in 2016. She then published two cookbooks, True Roots (2018) and True Comfort (2020). These books feature recipes without gluten, dairy, or refined sugar. Both cookbooks were made with Chef Mike Kubiesa. Her third cookbook, Truly Simple, was released on April 4, 2023.
All of her books became New York Times bestsellers. Her comfort food cookbook, True Comfort, was even named one of the best cookbooks of the year by Delish magazine.
Personal Life
In 2013, Kristin married Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. They have three children together. In 2017, after Jay retired from football, they moved to Nashville. They later separated in 2022 and share custody of their children. From February to September 2024, Kristin dated TikTok content creator Mark Estes.
