Heidi Blair Pratt (born September 15, 1986), whose maiden name was Montag, is an American reality television star and singer. She became well-known in 2006 after joining the MTV reality television show The Hills. This show followed the lives of Lauren Conrad, Heidi, and their friends Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
While on The Hills, Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt, who was also on the show. This led to her friendship with Lauren Conrad ending. Their disagreements became a big part of the show. Heidi and Spencer, often called "Speidi," got married in April 2009.
Heidi Montag released her first music album, Superficial, in January 2010. It didn't sell well at first, but later gained a small group of fans. Early Life and Career Beginnings
Heidi Blair Montag was born on September 15, 1986, in Crested Butte, Colorado. Her parents are Darlene and Bill Montag. Heidi has an older sister, Holly Montag, who is also a reality TV star, and a younger brother, Sky.
After finishing high school, Heidi moved to California. She went to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for a short time. There, she met Lauren Conrad, who was already a main cast member on the MTV reality show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Heidi later transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. She appeared in a few episodes of Laguna Beach. However, she found the school not challenging enough and left. She then started working for Bolthouse Productions as an assistant.
Becoming a Reality TV Star: The Hills
In 2006, Heidi moved to Los Angeles. A new show called The Hills was created as a spin-off from Laguna Beach. It followed the lives of Lauren Conrad, Heidi, and their friends Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
During the second season of The Hills, Heidi's friendship with Lauren Conrad became difficult. This happened after Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt and later moved in with him. Their relationship and the drama it caused became a major storyline on the show.
Music and Other Ventures
In 2007, Heidi began working on her first music album. A song called "Body Language" was leaked online, which included a rap part from Spencer Pratt. In February 2008, she released her first song and music video, "Higher."
Heidi also worked with Anchor Blue to create her own clothing line called "Heidiwood" in April 2008. However, the company decided not to continue with celebrity clothing lines, so her contract was not renewed.
She released two shorter music collections, called extended plays (EPs), in 2009: Wherever I Am and Here She Is…. One song from Wherever I Am, called "More Is More", reached number 50 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. This was her first and only song to chart in the country.
Later in 2009, Heidi and Spencer appeared on the American version of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. They left the show early because Heidi had to go to the hospital. In August, Heidi performed her song "Body Language" at the Miss Universe 2009 event. In November, she and Spencer released a book called How to Be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.
In January 2010, Heidi shared that she had undergone ten cosmetic surgery procedures in one day a couple of months earlier. Her first album, Superficial, was released digitally later that month. It received mostly negative reviews. The album cost nearly $2 million to make but only sold about 1,000 copies in its first week. In May, Heidi and Spencer made their last appearance on The Hills during its sixth and final season.
Life After The Hills

After The Hills, Heidi tried out for a role in the Transformers movie series but was not chosen. In 2011, Heidi appeared on the VH1 reality show Famous Food. On this show, she and other celebrities worked together to open a restaurant.
In January 2013, Heidi and Spencer competed together on the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother. They came in second place. Later that year, they started the Speidi Show, which was a unique online project where they worked with others to create a Twitter game. In December 2013, Heidi mentioned that she and Lauren Conrad had talked a few times since The Hills ended. She said they were both different and more mature now.
In 2017, Heidi and Spencer returned to Celebrity Big Brother for another season. They were voted off the show on day 25.
