Professional Football Career
Denver Broncos (2006–2008)
The Denver Broncos selected Cutler in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft. He became the team's starting quarterback near the end of his first season. He quickly showed his strong arm, throwing for at least two touchdowns in each of his first four starts, an NFL record for a rookie.
Over the next two seasons, Cutler became the Broncos' leader on offense. In 2008, he had a career-best season, throwing for over 4,500 yards and 25 touchdowns. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl, the NFL's all-star game. He set several Broncos single-season records that year, including most passing yards and completions.
Chicago Bears (2009–2016)
In 2009, Cutler was traded to the Chicago Bears, the team he cheered for as a child. He quickly became one of the most important quarterbacks in the team's history.
Leading the Bears to the Playoffs
Cutler's most successful season with the Bears was in 2010. He led the team to an 11–5 record, winning the NFC North division title. In the playoffs, he played an amazing game against the Seattle Seahawks, scoring two touchdowns by passing and two by running. The Bears won 35–24.
The Bears then played against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, Cutler injured his knee during the game and could not finish. The Bears lost, just one game away from the Super Bowl.
Setting Franchise Records

For the next several years, Cutler continued to be the Bears' starting quarterback. He formed a strong connection with wide receiver Brandon Marshall, and the two of them broke many team records. Despite facing many challenges, including injuries, Cutler showed his toughness and skill.
By the time he left the Bears, Cutler had become the franchise's all-time leader in many categories. These include career passing yards (23,443), completions (2,020), and touchdown passes (154). He also holds the record for the most wins by a Bears quarterback, with 51.

Miami Dolphins (2017)
Cutler's retirement didn't last long. In August 2017, the Miami Dolphins needed a starting quarterback after an injury to their player, Ryan Tannehill. Cutler signed a one-year contract to join the team. This reunited him with his former coach, Adam Gase.
He started 14 games for the Dolphins, throwing for 2,666 yards and 19 touchdowns. After the season, he retired from football for good.
