Kristine Jensen is a Danish architect born in 1956. She is famous for her work in landscape architecture. This special type of architecture focuses on designing outdoor spaces like parks, gardens, and public areas.
Kristine Jensen's Life and Work
Kristine Jensen was born in Herning, Denmark. Her father was also an architect. When she was 19, she moved to Aarhus to study landscape architecture. She finished her studies at the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1983.
After working for a short time, she went back to the architecture school. There, she did research and earned her PhD in 1996. From 1996, she taught at the school. In 2002, she started her own company, Arkitekt Kristine Jensens Tegnestue.
Important Projects
In 2005, Kristine Jensen won a contest to design the outdoor areas around the old Moesgård Museum near Aarhus. She worked with the museum's director on this project.
Some of her other important projects include:
- Making Prags Boulevard in Amagerbro, Copenhagen, a more lively urban space (2006).
- Designing outdoor areas in Kolding (2009).
- Working on landscaping in Struer (2011).
- Helping to design the area around the famous Jelling stones in Jelling, Jutland. The Jelling stones are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In 2014, her company received a very important award called the Nykredit Architecture Prize. They won this award mainly for designing the harbor-front area of Urban Mediaspace Aarhus. This area surrounds a large multimedia building called Dokk1 in Aarhus. The Dokk1 building was finished in 2015, and the harbor-front area was still being built at that time.
