Kristinia Jamie DeBarge (born March 8, 1990) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She first appeared on TV in 2003 on American Juniors. This was a spin-off show from American Idol. In 2009, Kristinia signed with Sodapop Records. She then released her first album, Exposed, in July of that year.
Kristinia's Life and Career
Early Life and Family
Kristinia DeBarge was born in 1990. Her father is James DeBarge, who is also a singer. Kristinia started singing when she was just three years old. However, she didn't think about it as a career until she was 12.
When she was 12, her father took her to a recording studio. They stayed up late, until 4 A.M., recording a song together. It was a duet called "How I Feel Inside." This experience showed her father that Kristinia was serious about becoming a singer.
Starting on TV
In the summer of 2003, Kristinia was a contestant on American Juniors. This TV show was a spin-off of the popular American Idol. She made it to the semi-final round, which had 20 contestants.
Kristinia was in the first group of ten semi-finalists. She sang the song "Reflection" from the Disney movie Mulan. However, she was not chosen to move on to the final ten.

Kristinia DeBarge has a mixed family background. Her father's family has African American, English, and French Canadian roots. Her mother's family comes from many different places. These include Mexican, Irish, Scottish, English, Norwegian, Spanish, and French backgrounds.

Breakthrough with Exposed (2009)
When Kristinia was 14, she met Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. He is a famous music producer. She worked with him for five years. Just before her 19th birthday, she signed with Sodapop Records. This was a new part of Island Def Jam Records.
Kristinia's first song, "Goodbye", came out in April 2009. It was from her first album, Exposed. The song became very popular in the United States. It reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also popular in Canada, reaching number 15 there.
Her album Exposed was released on July 28, 2009. Music critics generally liked the album. It reached number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. Kristinia also got to open shows for pop star Britney Spears. This was during Spears' 2009 world tour, The Circus Starring: Britney Spears.
New Music and Acting (2009–2013)
In November 2009, Kristinia partnered with a clothing store called The Wet Seal. She helped them choose a collection of fashion items. In January 2010, she was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. This award was for "Outstanding New Artist."
Kristinia also started acting. She appeared in the movie School Gyrls. It premiered on Nickelodeon in March 2010. In September 2012, she released a new song called "Cry Wolf." This song was from her album Young & Restless, which was released only in Japan. The music video for "Cry Wolf" came out in October 2012.
On November 9, 2012, Kristinia made her acting debut in the movie "Christmas in Compton." She acted alongside stars like Keith David and Eric Roberts. On April 3, 2013, she released another song from Young & Restless called "Ignite." It quickly became popular in Japan. She released another song from the album, "Higher," on May 29, 2013.
More Acting and Music (2014)
Kristinia was featured on Redrama's new song and music video "Let Go" on January 17, 2014. They performed the song live in Finland for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 finals. The song was very successful in Finland. It reached number 1 on several music charts there.
Kristinia began working on her third music album in March 2014. She worked with producer Adonis Shropshire. Her second acting role was in Nick Cannon's movie School Dance. It came out on July 2, 2014. Kristinia played the main female role, Anastacia.
New Music Mondays and Growing Up Hip Hop (2015)
On January 5, 2015, Kristinia and Adonis Shropshire started releasing new music on YouTube. They called this project "New Music Mondays." They shared new songs every week.
On July 8, 2015, the TV channel WE tv announced a new reality show. It was called "Growing Up Hip Hop." The show follows the lives of children from famous hip hop families. Kristinia DeBarge was one of the stars of the show. It started airing on January 7, 2016. Kristinia said she would release a new album around the time the show premiered.
Recent Music (2016–present)
Kristinia released two EPs (shorter albums) and a single in 2016. These were Thinkin Out Loud, Peaceful Understanding, and the song "Crystal Ball." In 2017, she released the song "Pink Love."
She continued to release new music independently. On December 22, 2018, she released the song "Alright." In 2019, she released "Breathe" and "Back in the Day." On April 21, 2020, her song "Carousel" came out. On June 11, 2021, she released a new song called "Bet," featuring Eric Bellinger.
Krissy D Cosmetics (2018)
On September 30, 2018, Kristinia DeBarge announced her new makeup company. It is called Krissy D Cosmetics. The online store launched on November 23, 2018.
Her first products included the "Amethyst Collection" of vegan makeup brushes. She also launched the "Aplysina Blender" makeup sponge and "3D Inlashuation Mascara." The mascara sold out very quickly! On February 12, 2019, the company released the "World Tour" eyeshadow palette.
